Hi All I had a major heart attack two years ago and had stents fitted and then after a week had another heart attack , this resulted in another stent fitted , But I had another angiogram last year as having chest pain and arm pain , they got stuck in both my arms as went through my wrist , they then decided to go through my croin and on exciting they bust my fem Artery huh not a good day , but since then I've had increased pain in arms and chest , when I walk or exercise my hands and arms start to swell ? I've spoke to doctor and they don't seem to be concerned but I know something a miss somewhere , went to AandE with chest pain and told them as well about swelling but didn't seem bothered either feel a bit stupid and confused but no one seems to give a answer , Had one cardiologist say he didn't even think I had angina and just get on with it ? And others have said oh you have microvascular heart disease , but they took me off raolizene 750mg and isosorbid 20mg and left me with nicolandril twice a day with usual asprine and some blood pressure tablets and don't know why , Cardio said all doing the same job , just feel down and not knowing is the worst ,, sorry for the spelling , just tired all the time as well , i do try and push all the time with work and getting out for exercise, Thank you everybody

Hello :-)

I am sorry to hear what you are going through and seems you are feeling a little dismissed by everyone when you are trying to express your concerns which is not a nice feeling

Have you tried phoning the BHF Nurses and talking to them they are really good and will give you some good advice

I also would keep pushing if you feel something is not right and you should not feel silly by doing so

Hope others will come and give you some good advice :-)

Let us know how you get on :-) x

so sorry to hear that you are going through this, it sounds confusing and distressing

I have no specific suggestions apart from suggesting that you be very gentle with yourself for a while and hope that Milkfairy can offer support on the microvascular issue - many doctors have little experience of this and might be giving you mixed messages

Hi thank you for the response, I think you are right about the microvascular issue , I don't think it's just GPs though , I know that I've got heart disease and also the smaller arteries in the heart are infected as well as after one of my Angiogram said they where to small to sent , thing that gets me though seems I see different consultants and each has there own opinion which get very confusing and I just don't think they talk or even look at the notes from previous consultants , just gonna have to keep pushing on and see if I get any answers from anyone , many thanks again and keep safe

Hello,

I am sorry you are encountering conflicting advice from Cardiologists.

Microvascular disease/ dysfunction is sadly poorly understood and often dismissed by Cardiologists and other healthcare professionals.

There is a erroneous belief that it's a harmless condition.

I live vasospastic angina an even rarer type of angina non unobstructed coronary arteries , ANOCA.

I have over the years had to ask Cardiologists and other staff to look at my angiogram results which confirms my diagnosis as well as reading and following my careplan.

You may well need to be persistent.

I suggest you keep a log of your symptoms and medications and ask your GP to refer you to a Cardiologist who has an understanding of microvascular angina.

There are other medications that can be offered to help manage microvascular angina.

Here's some information about microvascular angina from the BHF website.

Hi. A couple of things... You can pay to see a cardiologist privately if your finances allow - it's anywhere from £150 for a telephone consultation to £250 for a face-to-face appointment in an office. You can also get CBT immediately privately. That's about £50 a session.

Regarding your anxiety, have you tried chamomile tea ? It really helps to take the edge off the panic. I've suffered for decades and chamomile tea works.

Also, guided meditation videos on YouTube. They help too.

I wish you all the best. I know how horrible anxiety is.

Not what you're looking for?
