pacemaker and afib

when I had a pacemaker 3 years ago I felt great. Hill walking was a breeze had lots of energy and slept well. 18 months later diagnosed with Atrial Fibrillation, energy zapped, can’t do the hills the same, sleeping poor! I want and need to lose weight but for some reason it’s creeping up. I am on 1.5 bispropol but go says that’s a low dose so will not effect me that much. And now I have had high bnp results (399) so considered ‘heart failure’ so need an echocardiogram. I’m 67 and not ready to slow down I have so much to see and do.

Anyone else the same?

Is your weight gain over the last 3 years pretty minor or more substantial.?

Even 7 pounds can have a big impact, especially when striding uphill..

Yes approx 7 pounds. It’s a viscous circle of wanting to exercise to not having the energy. I’ve never been one for daytime naps but now I do! Can’t wait for bedtime too. I’ve turned into a right bore. Ps am on anti depressants to help with the anxiety etc

Is there a walking group around you that might have a set time and day that would give you the incentive to join?

I Suppose your collective medication doesn't help. Has your GP advised you to ease up until you have your tests?

No he hasn’t . I’m quite active I walk most days have a circle of friends to walk with, yoga and 4 grandchildren plus school hols. I gave and echocardiogram on Friday. I’m sure it’s the Bisoprolol zapping me. That’s the trouble with medication they keep you ticking but side effects are not pleasant. Will see what the echo shows. Thank you for your suggestions

Please let us know how your echocardiogram goes and if any suggestions are made to you.

Some medicines affect individuals more than others. It would be interesting if we could have tests to see what the collective effect of medication sometimes is. I suspect that Lipitor is causing me breathlessness at times, but equally it could be the weather or a number of other interactions.

I’m sensitive to most meds. I’m that 1/1000 that gets side effects! Tried 5 statins
