Stopping Clopidogrel as advised

😎Hi Guys

I've been taking clopidogrel since end of February and I'm due to stop it at the end of August.

What am I to expect? and any unexpected symptoms to expect also? my Bisoprosol has gone down to 1.5 but not sure whether I feel better or a bit fatigued by this.

So I'm pleased to be still feeling good after 3 stents which was a surprise with no symptoms! but still getting used to medication & what I am used to.

Any comments or shared experiences gladly received and I take great encouragement and reassurance from you guys.

Thankyou 👍

Hi, I had clopidogrel for 12 months after my HA. When I stopped taking it I didn't have any problems, the only thing I noticed was that I stopped getting bruises everywhere, which was great! Still on aspirin and beta blockers.

No impact at all on stopping this medication other than the bruising stopped.

Hi there

My husband was on Clopidogrel for 12 months, or cloppy doppy as we called it as neither us could remember the name !!! He had a cardiac arrest and 1 stent fitted eventually.

No problems at all when he came off it though.

Glad you are on the mend.

As I am sure you would agree it is a steep learning curve with all the medical terms and drugs !! My husband still can't remember what he takes and it has been 2 and half years now 😆

Yep!! Some of the names can trick me up. I sit there wide eyed and looking dumbfounded when I suddenly forget a drug name in front of a doctor…then remember it when he’s left the room—or on my way home. I’m scared they’ll write it in my chart send me for memory tests. I really love the goofy name you used. We like to do that for lots of things…I learned it from him and it keeps a lot of giggles and joy in our home.🫶

I was on clopidogrel for 6 months and stopped just recently. Apparently it's not the type of med that you need to come off gradually. And it was certainly fine in my case.

Hi! I went through that a couple months ago. I was prescribed clopidogrel last year after a substantial blockage in my LAD (often referred to as the widow maker). Because of some things I read (and because doctors told me I have thick blood), I was really afraid to stop it after a year despite the fact that I also take Xarelto—prescribed after a pulmonary embolism a few years ago). Friends here on BHF and my doctors reassured me that I would be fine to stop it. I initially was going to ease off slowly, but ended up adding a baby aspirin before bed as recommended by my doctor…and then I stopped cold turkey! I’ve had no problems at all and it went great.
