I am 75 year old female. I have had PAF for 10 years and it is now segueing into something more continuous - 3-4 times a week for 12 hours or so.
Here's my problem. 2 weeks ago I had a N-STEMI, and an angiogram revealed a severe blockage in my right coronary artery. .... up to 94% at one point. A stent was fitted.
I am home now under instruction that if I get chest pain I should use GTN twice at 10 minute intervals and if it persists dial 999.
Every time I go into AF I get chest pain which stays till the AF stops. And GTN makes no difference. I cannot ring 999 every time! And I have done more than my fair share of A&E overnight stints in a plastic chair for 15 hours!
Anyone else have this dilemma?

Similar, but not the same. Chest pain was very mild, but all the other red flags for HA, and very high BP.I understand your feeling about 999, I feel the same. I have had a trolley in A&E, but have spinal problems, on balance I think a chair could be better.
I wish there was an area where you could attend, have the troponin tests, and ECG, then be let go if OK.
I agree. No medical professional will advise you differently, I asked my consultant if he, as a cardiologist, could give me any further insight about when I actually needed to call 999. I got the standard response, probably because it's correct, there is no other way to determine what is happening.
