Blood pressure
Its very hard thing to do, having to stand up slow enough. It is easy for them to say that
Sounds like a form of postural hypotension…mine was only diagnosed with a tilt table as BP did not drop low to 8 min. mark, from hyper tension to hypo (60/40) and HR goes up to compensate to 120s/130s. Passing out n public ( sometimes followed by vomiting) is very disabilitating!
that’s great you did see someone and have an explanation at least of what might be going on. It is difficult to remember to take things slowly but hopefully will become second nature. 👍
I used to stand up and then march on the spot for about 20 seconds if I started feeling dizzy. It gets the heart beating a little faster so gets the blood to your head quicker
I don't have anything of use to tell you about your condition, but I did suffer from 80/40 level blood pressures for 2 months while suffering with pericarditis. It was absolutely rotten, I felt awful all the time and lost confidence in my ability to do the smallest things. It's good you are starting to get some answers but is there anything medication wise they can try with you?
The doctor is looking into it
Dear Alfie, what meds are you on?
Amlodipine 5mg nicorandil 10mg atorvastatin 40mg pantoprazole 40mg asprin 75mg
I am still on Amlodipine and atorovastin 80mg, for my angina Bisoprolol. Now these angina medications have a tendacy to slow down your heart as well! So I have been warned about getting dizzy spells, this is due to BP drop due to meds. Watch your meds carefully as they will drive your BP too low!!!
I stopped my original BP medication (for my high BP) when I started my Bisoprolol. I was also advised by my pharmacist to try it for a few days, monitoring my own BP. I found that it did lower my BP and HR! Sometimes down to 110/60. So I did not go back to my BP tablets.
My BP is a steady 120s/60s occasionally 115/60. Thats as low as I will accept, otherwise I will get fainting, which I have to avoid, since I do not like fainting and feeling unwell!
Hi Alfie. Have similar issues, which I mainly put down to side effects of Bisoprolol. Same thing blood pressure drops if standing up, try to sit up for few secs etc before getting up, still get occasional dizzy spells etc. Passed out once before, when had to rush out of bed due to spouse being sick. Like most things related to condition and meds, it's finding what suits you, and making small adjustments.
I also suffer from postural hypotension, my remedy is to lean forward before rising, it seems to work for me.
