Hi Everyone,It's been 9 months since my 3x Cabg, recovery has been slow.
As we came into 2024 I was being investigated for AFib and was supposed to have a loop fitted. This was put off because at the same time I was diagnosed with breast cancer and the loop couldn't be fitted because of the need for radiotherapy. I've just finished the radiotherapy and will now engage with cardiology to address the AFib.
This week I spend time in A&E and tests indicate I have bilateral peripheral artery disease and a small blood clot. My legs are weeping and extremely sore. I'm already on clopidogrel due to a stroke late 2022 and other meds for BP etc.
My mind is in overdrive, I'm terrified I will have another stroke or worse.
How did you deal with anxiety, worries when receiving news of additional potentially serious health issues.
Thanks for listening!

It’s easy for me today, but try not to worry too much. You are on clopidogrel which significantly reduces the likelihood of a stroke, so that’s good.
I would suggest that you get a face to face appointment with your GP and discuss your worries with them. The problem with consultants/specialists is that they concentrate on their own thing, whereas a GP will look at the bigger picture and overview
Keep posting here, because that should help as well
Hi I can understand how you feel about being overwhelmed. In July 2022 I was told I needed CABGX3 11 days later I was informed I had Non Hodgkin Lymphoma . My recovery after the CABG surgery was slow as I was anaemic and had problems with my left foot as a result of the surgery. I was unable to walk and was using a wheelchair for 2 months. It was a difficult time as my husband also has serious health problems so was struggling to help and support me when I came home from hospital, but we got through it with a few upsets and laughs along the way. My Lymphoma is low grade ( thank god) so has been monitored so far, however my iron levels have dropped recently so this meant iron infusion and a Petctscan to see if anything has changed. I now have an appointment with my haematologist to check the results.
Life throws challenges at us and it can most certainly bring you down but we try to live as normal a life as possible in between all our hospital appointments ( if a week goes by without one or the other of us having an appointment or both in the same week / same day we feel lucky and try to make the most of it) We feel grateful/ blessed that we still have some quality of life and are able to enjoy life albeit different to what it was. It is an adjustment and definitely affects your mental health but try to remain positive, try not to worry I know that’s easier said than done.
Try to concentrate on getting better and feeling stronger each day it takes time and we all recover differently at our own pace. Some days will be easier than others don’t beat yourself up if you have a bad day. I’m coming up to 20 months post op and still having some recovery issues both mentally and physically. Be kind to yourself and try to remain positive. I wish you well, good luck 🍀🍀keep posting take care 😊🌞X
Thank you so much for sharing your challenges!I too feel blessed and thankful, after all I am still here to tell the tale!
I'm trying to be my usual positive self and deal with what comes my way but as you know attending hospital, backwards and forward, new health issues arising takes its toll.
I am sorry you and your husband are both dealing with health issues and related challenges, sending love and prayers your way!
That's a beautiful reply and such an inspiring post. God bless you and I sincerely pray you have good and strong health with all the energy and zest to enjoy life
Hi, LindaLittleBear, I too have suffered anxiety, and deep shock, I have found going down the complementary route very helpful, and always have some flower essences to hand. I use Dr Bach remedies (Holland & Barrett, Boots, Baldwins etc), Rescue Remedy is a good one to start with, I also use Mimulus and Aspen for anxiety, go to H&B and have a look, maybe pick up a leaflet, or look on line for info. I also use Crystal Herbs (online) who do much more, I use their Inner Calm essence. Both have online people you can talk to. Also I have a Reiki session once a month, which is very helpful.
