Implantable loop recorder

I'm due to get a loop recorder fitted next month.I have a couple of heart arrhythmias since 2010. I have short bouts of vt and atrial tachycardia. I'm getting loop recorder fitted to monitor my arrhythmias.I'm worried about going into hospital during covid 19 pandemic. Anyone else going through this?

Hi Mags

You will find the operation theatre will be well away from C19 Patients .

As for the operation itself it’d over so quickly the most painful part is them injecting the local .

After that a cut about 1.5 “ wide & then they slide the loop recorder

I am in the U.S., but have had a loop recorder implant back in 2005 to 2007.

The procedure was easy & I actually would forget I had the implant, especially since it's just under the skin, isn't a therapeutic device, just monitoring.

More recently, just two weeks ago, I had surgery and a week long hospital stay. Although it was a surreal experience due to the virus pandemic, I felt more at ease due to the strict protocol and the fact virus patients were all on one floor, isolated from the "general" occupants.

I'm not sure about the U.K., but here in the U.S., the loop recorder implant was just a day surgery, with no overnight stay.

Whatever your procedure entails, I wish you the best outcome and for better health in the future! 🙏🕊️

Hi I had mines put in up in Glasgow about 4 months ago , it’s not a big procedure and with covid it’s done out of the way from any patients with that ,,,, you’ll only feel the pressure of them pushing it into your chest ,not sore but discomfort ,,,,I forget mines is there now ,,,, take care let’s know how it goes ,,,,

I just had a loop recorder implant fitted on Thursday, in the United States.

Hi. I had an ILR fitted in the UK a year ago. I was only in hospital for a few hours. My incision was no more than a centimetre long. For a couple of weeks afterwards it was sore when I slept on my side as the device pressed against the incision. After that you wouldn’t know it was there. Good luck.
