I would just have a word with your pharmacist where you get your repeats from they will tell you if with everything else you take they will be ok no doubt they might be but always best to check x
Both me and my Brother take Cocodamol. I have no Stents but My brother does we take the higher Prescription only does 30mg. So if the lower dose works for then stick to the lower.
I have been on co codamol 8mg/500mg since 1992 but prescribed it for general pain due to my neurological condition. I take 2 twice a day which helps but like yesterday next extra 2 at lunchtime I over did the amount of walking I did. I don't take the 8 I could and try just to take the 4 as 6 or 8 a day even for a week gives me constipation. I take take 3 x 10mg Amitriptyline for nerve pain which helps with my neurological condition which effects my 4 limbs and many other things my body does.
I have PAF and small hole in the side of my heart not diagnosed until 2020/2021 on Flecainide and Apixaban.
Friends of mine which have various heating problems take co codamol and Amptriplyine and it helps them with pain .
I have taken cocodimol 30/500 for many years without any issues along with my heart meds ect having had two stents 8 yrs ago. My GP and all the specialists approve it however you need to be mindful that they can be very addictive and in some cases give you constipation. I can have up to 8 per day but I limit them if possible to 2 a day.
while I had been on them before I was told to keep taking them when I was on the heart wards after my cpr and fractured ribs….but as said always check with your GP.
check with your pharmacist. I didn’t think that you could but we had a talk from the pharmacist at the hospital during our rehab class and she said that Solpadeine is fine. I know a lot of people who are addicted to OT.C cocodamol so if you do take it watch your consumption. Good luck x
Hi I had HA and 2 stents 1 year ago I have another painful condition and I was told quite safe to take 30mg cocodamol and with all the other meds I am now on for my heart
Hiya My wife tried them for her pelvis pain she said they work but she wasn't able to go to the loo, so she felt bloated every day. Different side effects for different people I suppose ( I'm sorry that wasn't your question but I thought I would just mention it) 🤗
morning. I’ve been taking 30/500 for last five years and continued after having a stent fitted three years ago without any issue. Speak to your chemist or doctor as your prescription medication may be slightly different from everyone else. Always better to check. One down side to the pain killers is constipation.
Hi Comfycousin1, my experience with Cocodamol 30/500 is that I have very low blood pressure. Took 2 for pain but also had a hot bath and the combination with the heart tablets as well made me pass out when I got out of the bath! If you haven’t got low blood pressure you may be ok. This was just my experience. I was told to let the water out first so I cool down before getting out of the bath. I was ill with covid at the time as well. I wasn’t told to not take them but only have them occasionally when needed. We are all different and on different tablets and blood pressures and different heart tablets so the only thing I advise you to do is ask a professional to be on the safe side. My tablets were strong strength as well. Hope your pain goes soon. Good luck. Joy
Hi I would definitely check with your GP, I have been prescribed co codamol 30/500 for many years, I have chronic shoulder pain and arthritis, I also take amitriptyline. I can take 8 a day but I try and limit it to 2 or 3. I took it with the cocktail of heart failure meds and it was fine, my consultant is ok with me taking it. Char
If in doubt always check with GP or pharmacist, but I've been taking 30/500 for about 20 years because of widespread chronic pain. They've never given me constipation, I take them by the clock, and they are still effective. However I will suggest you seek advice for your back pain, it's remarkable how much some gentle physio can help, and long term it's far better to deal with the pain that way than to end up relying on medication. I have physical damage to my spine and some of my joints but still wish I'd taken more time to do that rather than breaking my neck to get back to work as soon as possible and relying on meds.
Having said that you know your body best, and you are taking the lowest dose, but it's still worth looking at physio if only to try to prevent problems in the future.
I had a HA 14 years ago, I also have COPD from my career of over 50 years as a baker, last year I fell over dog walking and cracked a rib. I was given Cocodamol by the doctor in A&E so I suppose its OK but double check with your Pharmacist for any contraindications with your heart medicine to be safe.
This does sound unusual and may be as a result of meds? After my stents, almost no pain. However several months down the line, I started having angina/acid reflux etc, during the start of winter and had changes to meds after several tests in hospital.
Recently at home, only I incident due to viral flu/cold, started of as a back pain, then developed into whole body muscle pains that lasted a whole week!
It also depends if you had back pains before your stents? To pin it down, you'll need to ask your GP many questions.
However my mrs did! After her triple bypass there was severe pain, So along with all her diabetes meds and then with the new heart meds, she was also given co codomol. Which she continued taking for several days until she felt better.
I recently checked with my doctor and take 30/500 cocodamol with my bisoprolol and edoxaban, I have A fib. Don't take them on an empty stomach and they do cause constipation, I also take nortriptyline for migraine
