I have aortic stenosis (severe) but probably won't have OHS my cardiologist has told me that because I have other health issues OHS may not be the best, option as it woukd mean very lengthy recovery in my case, but he will arrange for me to have another scan and ring me in six months' time.
The only reason I am posting today is to ask if anyone else feels tired all the time.
Every morning when I get up, and go downstairs sitting down, and I cannot keep my eyes open I just keep falling asleep even before the day begins.
Is this common?

I have severe aortic stenosis and should get op soon. I get extremely tired. I can keep going for a while, but the minute I sit down, I’m gone. I find it so difficult to wake up properly, it’s almost feels as though I have been drugged.
TAVI was explained to me because the recovery would be a lot quicker if successful, but there was also the possibility that TAVI could not be carried out. . I would also have to go to a hospital at the other end of Scotland which I'm not happy about, but if it didn't work they would still have to OH surgery. OH surgery is carried out at the excellent Golden Jubilee Hospital in Glasgow 40 miles from me, whereas keyhole is done at a hospital in Edinburgh which is 90 miles away.
Yes I was exhausted by the time I got dressed II have never felt as tired in my life as I did while waiting for the aortic valve replacement and I was 75. Have they mentioned having it done by TAVI much less in vasive method which they use for older people and those with physical illnesses which put them at risk Of course you may not be suitable for this I was and had mine done last year I was only in hospital 2 days
That is very interesting, yes TAVI was discussed, I am 75 I am also a diabetic and have arterial disease which I think is the biggest worry for the cardiologist. There are several symptoms of aortic stenosis, however, my only symptom is breathlessness if I exert myself too much with relatively simple tasks. This surprised my cardiologist. He said if I do nothing statistically life expectancy is 2 to 4 years. Of course I am also aware that any time my symptoms may get worse. I am in a terribke quandry
No I have an inhaler but not such a great help I feel I just have to pace myself and sit down way too often. I am nothing like the person I used to be and the frustration I feel is awful.
There is no way of e asing the breathlessness or tiredness you just have to accept it and yes I was told the same thing about life expectancy it will get worse and you will pass out I had 3 collapses before my TAVI Join the Facebook page uk aortic and heart defects pre and post surgeryIt's a great group
SThank I will have a look on facebook for the group. I get really scared at times because I live alone, and when you have no family backup, life can be scary.
Good they are so helpful all age groups I am sure you will love it We even do a zoom every three weeks for anyone wanting to talk Yes being on your own is scary I live by myself but my son lives nearby and my daughter is just in York so can be here in a couple of hours
I hope you have friends around that will help if you needed them The best thing about the group is that they understand how you feel both physically and mentally It is a big shock being told you need heart surgery .
Sadly I have no friends or relatives anymore, they have all died, my friends who would have done anything for me of various forms of cancer. The only remaining relatives live in Texas. I don't know my neighbours who are few anyway. This all makes me more terrified. My breathlessness this week has been awful. the FB group declined me. No idea why.
Thanks I will, I only have one symptom of my aortic stenosis and that is breathlessness, it greatly upsets me, and actually upsets me because I can't get on with life, as I would be used to, I just wish there was a pill that would make it easier, alas😪😪
