Here goes… I urge you to research natural methods using foods and polyphenols substances to achieve this because not only will you succeed .. you will lower inflammation and improve your health whereas “drugs” simply mask the problem and will never correct the actual causes…
So consider using foods that increase nitric oxide .. such as celery .. beets… these relax blood vessels and reduce inflammation.. often caused by inflammatory diets high in sugar … or seed oils rich in omega 6.
Omega 3 oils reduce inflammation and lower blood pressure (cod liver oil)
Two supplements do the same thing olive leaf extract and flaxseed oil (omega 3)
Cardio miracle contains such ingredients…
Cut out alcohol and try to walk each day for thirty minutes .. increase fresh vegetables such as spinach but remember you need to eat yoghurt or calcium containing food to bind to oxolates…
Magnesium is a must… learn to meditate and do regular relaxation exercises .. all these things will improve you blood pressure…..
Just seeking a drug that will bring down BP is useful in the short term.. but your long term outlook needs some input from your life choices.
Hi J0, thanks for your post, which will make encouraging reading for folks who favour lifestyle changes before medication. I agree with your positive remarks on the subject of diet and exercise. My own experience has been that I went through the list of risks and made changes where I could, however I still found my typical bp showed me to be hypertensive. My gp agreed and I'm now taking amlodipine as well as atorvastatin, with both bp and non-HDL cholesterol nicely in normal range for my age.
I think the point I'd like to make is to emphasise the value in staying focused on the diet and exercise, even when med.s appear to have the situation under control. As far as I can tell, there are few circ.s when regular daily exercise and a gentle leaning towards eating more and more plant based foods won't bring benefits.
High blood pressure is not called “the silent killer” for nothing. Consult a doctor if lifestyle changes is not enough.
I would recommend that you contact (online or chat with British Heart Foundation nurses for immediate advice) your medical team for expert advice and treatment. We don’t know any history , we are not experts , we are all patients that have experienced a cardiac event (so many variations ).
Get in touch with your doctor/pharmacist if you orcdd as online you know has that blood pressure reading.
You don't mention whether your weight or diet or amount of exercise might be factors?
the charity Blood Pressure UK has useful information.
Remember that lifestyle, diet and exercise have a great effect on blood pressure and that’s the route to pursue to start off with, unless your pressure is very high.
Do you have raised systolic bp too? I have Isolated Diastolic Hypertension and have so far found that nothing can target only Diastolic. All medication targets bp in general so will also lower systolic which can be problematic if that is not at all high (which is the case for me). I should also be very interested if anyone has a different experience.
I was on several BP meds for a while, but since I was started on Bisoprolol, my BP has been well controlled. I was even able to stop a couple of the other meds! It seems to have worked well for me so far.
Hi, I've been on Ramipril and Amlodopine for many years but following heart attack in April I'm now on bisoprolol aswell. I notice that I often feel light headed and notice my BP is now about 115/60 and pulse about 52. I'm wondering if I should talk to GP about dropping something , out of interest which meds did you stop ? Thanks
