Unfortunately the levels you have quoted give cause for concern, both systolic and diastolic. Currently they suggest your medication needs increasing to reduce the risk of a cardic event. If in the future your fitness improves further or your stress levels reduce the doseages could be reduced. Book an appointment with your GP. He might arrange a 24 hour monitor. Sometimes people benefit by split doses, morning and evening. Don't just leave things as they are.
Thanks michaelJh . Much better today after taking my medication.
I have had hypertension for 20 years and after a battery of tests the cardiologist simply stated they could find no reason and that I am probably one of those people who are naturally on the right hand side of the bell shaped curve for hypertension. I control my bp with medication and try to maintain a healthy lifestyle as that reduces how much medication I need but I will always need medication. You could ask your doctor to review your medication if you're worried as my mine has changed numerous times to suit my requirements.
No I don’t work night shifts , but I did have a stressful day working. Taken BP this morning 125/75. I’m supposed to take 3 ramipril per day . I have been cutting back because of the acid reflux side affects. Taken four yesterday and this has done the trick. I have been told by a cardiologist that I will be on medication for life. I’d hoped diet and exercise improvements would work for me. I am fit and slim but for me that’s not enough .
I’m just like you - I’m a fit runner with bmi of 20.5, I’ve never smoked nor drank a drop. I’m vegetarian now and have plenty of fruit and fresh veg. I’ve even got medals for my age group in running. My BP hovers around 128/85 and varies between 110/70 and 145/100. I do get very anxious and stressed though and watched my dad die of a heart attack at 38. He was thin too. My Dr keeps putting me on ramipril after a cold stressed bout, but my average BP then goes down and I come off it as I hate the stuff and it doesn’t do much anyhow.
