I've been on 40mg Atorvastatin since my HA in May 2021. Last November I noticed I was doing a lot more itching. Had a blood test, my bilirubin and ALT levels were raised. Whilst trying to sort that out, I noticed u was breaking out in blotches/red spots and what look like small fungal patches. My GP has been good and trying different things but I was wondering if anyone else has had these spontaneous flare ups? I mention the statins as a couple of people who I've spoken to have told me similar stories of other people.

I have something that sounds very similar - looks like a sweat rash in the groin area that comes up very fast after exercise and takes days to fade. Never happened prior to being on 80 mg Atorvastatin.
Hi
I am on 40mg Atorvastatin. My Bilirubin and ALT levels were shown to be high when I had a check up 1 year after my bypass.
Even though I have a set of pre-bypass tests that show my Bilirubin has jumped up by 300% my doctor has told me I have Gilbert’s syndrome (nhs.uk/conditions/gilberts-..., primarily because that is what their flow diagram diagnosis shows, and it is nothing to worry about. Gilbert’s syndrome is genetic and no one else in our largish family has it.
Although I suffered from eczema before the meds I have found I am more susceptible to out breaks, they are larger and additionally have them on my feet and ankles. This maybe co-incidence but given all the other side effects I get I would not be surprised.
p.s. there is this post from a couple of years ago that maybe of interest.
really interesting! I never thought that the terrible itching I experience could be caused by atorvastatin. Keen to read what everyone thinks.
