Hi all, I have stable angina and Paroxysmal Afib. I have been in Afib all morning - exhausted, pale, lightheaded, short of breath if I try and do anything. I have a b/p arm monitor which shows me 101/58 pulse 69 and in Afib. Earlier it’s been similar but pulse was 115. Please does anyone know how I can shorten this episode? The monitor is on green , very low b/p , so taking my Viazem 120 won’t help. Could Edoxaban be causing me to have these episodes more frequently? Sorry, too many questions! Feeling low.

how to lessen Afib episode?
The only thing that ever works for me is accupressure on the wrist. Try this:

Thank you very much Barny. Do you take an anticoagulant may I ask and if so which one? My episodes seem to be getting more frequent - sometimes its when by b/p is far too low and heart rate high, sometimes the other way round. my “normal “ heart rate is around 60. I wish you well, and hope you don’t get Afib often.
Techniques that may work
1 valsalva in the horizontal position with legs elevated to get blood pooled into the chest.
2 Vomiting - can be self inducted
3 Meditation - calm you down and rhythm clicks back to regular
4 Bear down hard while having a bowel motion- or pretending to
They put me on rivaroxaban last year as I had a couple of multi day episodes of afib and thought I would need a cardioversion. Fortunately my beta blocker dosage was increased and that seems to have calmed things down for a while, phew!
Re the edoxaban: no, anticoagulants wouldn't be making your af worse. Most afibbers over the age of 60 are prescribed them to prevent the irregular heart beat causing blood clots leading to a stroke.

I don't think edoxaban would make anything worse, you need it as when in AF your heart doesn't pump blood well enough so this stops you getting any clots,my friend has paroxysmal af and has a pill in pocket that she can take
I have supra ventricular tachycardia and can self convert using the valsalva manoeuvre. I blow into a syringe (or you can use your thumb) and bear down for 10-15 seconds. It’s wise to check with a doctor that it’s safe for you to try the manoeuvre.
