A fairly high percentage of hearties are diabetic although generally lifestyle is often a major contributory factor.
Anyway recently I was prescribed the antibiotic Doxycycline for the macerated wounds (caused by Co-Vee-ID Toe) on my remaining foot. It turns out that this makes the body's response to insulin erratic. One day I can be struggling with hypos and the next hypers. I have now found others affected the same way.
I have yellow carded it but want to make others aware.
Hope I can get back to sleep soon!

Thank you so much Michael for this timely warning. My husband is a Type 1 Diabetic and has had an issue in the past , and just recently too when he was given a preparation for piles that included hydrocortisone and a lidocaine injection ( but it included epinephrine) , and he was so desperate he had it done and used the first dose before I had chance to check the ingredients.
He has had a similar issue with Fasting Hyperglycaemia for the last few weeks and we are on Ketones watch.
We are still trying to get his balance back and he narrowly missed having to go to hospital because of the rising levels of Ketones.
He on a very strict diet and insulin regime again at the moment so he has definitely learnt his lesson.
Always check with " Her Indoors"😆😆😆
I will definitely mark this down in my book and remind him if he ever needs to get antibiotics.
Hope you get your sugar balance back soon and can at least get some rest while you can't sleep.
Having been in remission for about five years I do accept I might become Type I'm as I best older However, I do not want to hasten that day! A web search suggests it interferes with insulin action either way as MichaelJH suggests. One non-diabetic was hospitalised with hypoglycemia after only a few doses. Maybe people with pre-diabetes and in remission need a list of drugs to avoid?
Many thanks Michael. Something to look out for!! I've been diagnosed now with a dicky ticker so am under a cardiologist and on Isosorbide (further checks to come)!!!😂. Been a Type 1 for 40 odd years!!
Hope things are going well for you. You're always in my thoughts.
