Hi folks at last I’ve had my echocardiogram on 29th April and a phone consultation with the cardiologist is booked for 30th May which I find a frustrating period to wait.I have however found results on my medical records that show :- Mild Mitral Regurgitation,Mild Distolic Dystfunction,Mild left atrial dilation. I am working on the assumption that these findings are not in immediate need of treatment as I would have received some form of communication. As always I can rely on my fellow members for advice and in particular from fishonabike !

Hello :-)

The way things are at the moment 4 weeks is not long to wait to see speak to a Consultant after having tests done

If it were me the fact everything is saying Mild I would try and focus on the word Mild better than what it could have said in the report

I do not know how they work but would have thought if anything was so serious it could not wait they would have had you back sooner

Others that have had similar to you hopefully will see your post and share their experiences with you :-)

Let us know how you get on :-) x

I had a CT scan on May 1 and have an appointment booked with an NHS haematologist for May 31. I was told to allow two weeks for the results to become available.

My GP diagnosed my dodgy heart valve early in January 2023 and I had further scans (CT and MRI) before being recommended for an operation in mid-April.

These delays between having the scan and being told the results can be frustrating, especially if one is then told that a further scan or test is necessary, with a letter arriving within a few days allocating a date a month or so later.

It's not nice to have to wait for something so important I agree x I had to wait 6 months for my results!! Didn't matter how many times I asked they wouldn't let me know and then I found out at my check up in the November that everything was stable moderate to severe aortic regurgitation and moderate stenosis so I'm ok. I'm no doctor but your results sound fine aswell hun hope your cardiologist can explain the results to help put your mind at rest ❤️.

Hi Avagra, my consultant saw me immediately after my echo and he told me it was serious heart failure with an EF of 25%. As BeKind28- said, try to focus on the word mild. I'm sure you would be seen quickly if it was a really worrying result. Try not to worry to much, take care x

I had an echo yesterday and the waiting time for results is at least 2 months. Very frustrating and worrying.

all i know is that when they're concerned, you get pushed through quickly and you're kept up to date. I had a 48 hour ECG tape, chest x-ray, Echocardiogram, ECG stress test, 24 hour BP test, and at one point they actually rang me on a saturday and called me in the same day, and I also had an appointment with the cardiologist. This was all within about 4 weeks of my initial A+E visit. I also got several letters sent home between. This was just for a WPW discovery .

If they're not rushing you through, you can assume they're not too worried.

I think with them using the world mild, you will be monitored for the foreseeable.I was diagnosed with severe mitral valve regurgitation when i was 40 years old, monitored me till i was 50 years old and then intervened and had the operation 10 weeks ago now, valve repair.

So going on the basis mine lasted 10 years and severe, i think you will be fine for sometime yet.

Please don’t worry - my mitral regurgitation has been moderate for at least 13 years. I just get regular(ish) check ups.

Without knowing the details of the full Echo, what you posted are really common findings, especially after age 60. I have all of them as well. They will monitor over the long haul and have you focus on things you can control such as blood pressure, cholesterol, exercise, diet, etc..

I had a three day tape started on 7/5/24. I sasked her when I’d get the results and she said March. I was somewhat surprised so I pressed her again March?? Really? So she went to her computer and confirmed March. As in March’s tapes. So the real answer is 6-8 weeks 😂😂. Which is still pretty long. The problem is numbers of an aging population and not enough technological help or people.

my husband was told his results the same day when his EF was 33%

Mild or trivial is always good news when it comes to my echos, glad you can atleast access your medical records and not be completely unimformed to the results.
