I had an ICD fitted 2 weeks ago .
I am still waking up breathless in the early hours most mornings.
Has anybody experienced this?
Does this settle down as ICD is new?

I had mine fitted two weeks tomorrow, but not having that issue. I get breathless at other times of the day, but that's usually movement related.
We are all different, so I would give the cardiology department a call and ask to speak to one of the team.
Hi Andy
If it's a ICD it won't alleviate any symptoms, it's there purely to correct any abnormal heart rhythms & deliver a shock if necessary. If it's a CRTd I know that some people have noticed immediate improvement but that's not always the case.
Either way I would contact your medical team & ask their advice,it may be you need a simple tweak of meds.
Good luck 🤞
Good morning ANDYDAMP. I should contact your doctors and get checked out. Tell them what's happening. Do you get short of breath. During the day walking around or doing manual jobs. Brian
Really sorry to read about you being breathless.
Were you advised that your ICD would help being breathless?
I ask because mine (which was provided 3 years ago) was to create regular heart patterns via electrical signals, and also to act as a lifesaver if my heart was in a state of danger. Nothig to do with breathlessness.
As others have mentioned, its best to talk to the experts - perhaps the person who recommended you have an ICD.
All the best and I hope it gets resolved.
The ICD is not causing you to be breathless, the ICD is only there to pace your heart into normal rhythm and if it fails to do that then it will deliver a shock which is usually for none sustained VT or ventricular Fibrillation
