My GP immediately took me off Viagra as soon as he'd diagnosed my dodgy heart valve and prescribed a cream that had to be applied internally. I didn't find it much good. At my post-op check up, I asked my surgeon if it was OK to resume taking Viagra, he said yes, and I made sure that he included his OK in his letter to my GP.

Good morning George 6969. I don't think it is with heart conditions. The quickest way is to check with your Pharmacy and they will tell you. There is also other medications you can use these days to help. Good luck. Brian

Hi George , I was prescribed viagra after my heat attack in 2018. I was also prescribed medication for heart ie Bisoprosol, clopidogrel etc all which were fine. Additional medication has been added one being Isosorbide Monotrate .

I continued with the viagra but felt dizzy on taking it as though I was going to faint. I rang the pharmacy to find out if any of my medication would cause this and was told that Isosorbide or and medication containing nitrates SHOULD NOT be taken with viagra as it causes a sudden drop in blood pressure causing fainting and could also be fatal. In addition a basic GTN spray also contains nitrates however it is only in your system a short time but again I was advised not to use the spray at the same time as taking viagra.

I hope this is helpful but pl are check with your GP or pharmacy as I am sure you will find they will give you the same answer.
