Side effects ramipril and ticagrelor

Has anyone suffered from side effects from these two drugs?. After a suspected taketsubo event I've been taken off clopidigrel and put on these (2.5 mg ramipril and ticagrelor twice a day.)I feel generally ill, no enthusiasm and very achey - I'm not really sure what is side effects and what is the result of my illness.

Thanks.

I was on 2.5 ramipril and felt awful also my creatine level was raised. Terrible bloating and extremely tired light headed and BP lowest was 60/40 struggled with bottom number always lower than 50. Top always lower than 90 . The GP agreed to reduce to 1.25 after consultation with cardiac nurse. Been on lower dose for 2 weeks, now BP normal level feel so much better bloating loads better the rest improved vastly . Just awaiting blood test for creatine next week. Good luck with GP.

My husband suffered with anxiety whilst on ramipril which is one of the lesser side effects. They changed him to losartin and he has been much better.

Hi. Sorry you are feeling too well. I was given Ramipril last year to help with high blood pressure. It lowered the blood pressure but I felt incredibly unwell on them and the main issue for me was the anxiety they induced. Saw consultant privately as GP not interested in how I felt and he switched me to Valsartan. I feel a lot better now and the anxiety problems have eased.

hi Gilldy, others have responded about Ramipril (which gave me a cough) but i am surprised to hear that you have been prescribed Ticagrelor after Takotsubo - do you know why this was prescribed? it is not routinely prescribed for Takotsubo unless you had a clotting incident or have a risk of clotting due to some other condition

you don't say how recent your takotsubo episode was, but this can have a much longer recovery time than many doctors predict - most people recover well, but it is now being realised that there can be complications and ongoing consequences which slow recovery - also recovery is slower if you have other ongoing health conditions

Takotsubo causes inflammation of the heart muscle, this reduces the ability of the heart to pump efficiently and means that your body and brain are not getting deliveries of fule and oxygen as quickly as usual - so any activity which needs fuel and oxygen becomes more difficult and you run out of energy - rest is very important in the early stages, to allow the muscle to recover

there is good info about Takotsubo at Takotsubo.net ( takotsubo.net/#) and a friendly and well moderated Facebook Takotsubo Support Group, you might fine it helpful to join that and learn from others with experience of this condition

The problem I had with ticagrelor was that it gave me episodes when I felt as if I couldn't breathe properly , as if I wasn't taking a deep enough breath yet my oxygen level was fine. Ramipril knocked me out. I was just so tired.

Thanks all - I'm on ticagrelor due to a stroke about 8 years since. I had been on clopidogrel and aspirin but it was changed after the recent event (around 4 weeks since). I had a cardiac arrest which was 'probably ' taketsubo 16 years since so been on and off various medication since then. Just wondered if the mix of the two drugs which are both new to me would be causing my symptoms.

Hi

Just to add to the many replies. Many years ago I was started on Ramipril. Sorhortly afterwards I developed a chronic dry cough. I was then switched onto Losartan and the side effect completely disappeared. By all accounts, it seems that people react differently to the med

Take care
