Looking for advice, experiences of, knowledge about Chronic Rheumatic Myopericarditis because Cardiac Consultant and GP are saying nothing .

Hi, this is my first post.

To put my post in context, as briefly as I can.

My partner had Myocarditis 8 yrs ago, he slowly recovered but appears to have some ongoing heart 'issues'.

One instance of unstable angina 18 months ago which took him to A&E, where an angiogram showed some narrowing of 3 vessels but not enough to warrant stenting and EF was >55%

Overweight but working hard on weight reduction.

Cardiac investigations into ongoing breathlessness. No chest pain. Sometime wheezy but he's also been investigated for asthma/cat allergy.

However, a couple of weeks ago, I discovered by accident when I was picking up his prescription the, there are 'conditions' listed under some of the items. Under his BP medication, it says (as expected) Essential Hypertension but under his Aspirin and the new Isosorbide Mononitrate, it says Chronic Rheumatic Myopericarditis.

This isn't something he's ever mentioned, nor have the dr's as far as I'm aware, so it was a bit of a shock.

I don't know if it's something new ... or a result of covid (which we both had 12 months or so ago) ...he has a 'mildly' enlarged heart.

Or could it simply be weight gain induced and will improve as weight drops off?

I haven't discussed it with him yet because he says I'm already fussing too much and says his heart is fine (apart from the slight narrowing).

So I made the mistake of Googling and didn't like at all what I read

I really don't like not knowing what we're dealing with and like even less the fact that the Cardiac consultant hasn't mentioned anything about prognosis, how to manage it (just, "here, let's try another pill"), and the GP hasn't even mentioned it, what it means, will it get better .... or am I over-worrying and they simply don't feel the need to talk to him/us about it.

Feeling very worried and don't really know where to turn.

I suggest to talk to the BHF heart helpline nurse who should be able to provide you with a professional opinion. The vast majority on here are not health professionals and can only usually offer opinions based on their own experiences which may be different to that of your husband's medical condition.

some types of myo and pericarditis can be connected with rare genetic conditions which have links to specific ethnic groups - you might want to look into that - i know someone who has his due to a rare genetic condition and it took the doctors ages to work it out
