Has anyone with acute heart failure (EF less than 30%) been successful in claiming PIP? My son has been refused despite his application confirming since sudden heart failure he has limitations that affect his work and daily living eg: dizzy spells, anxiety, fatigue.

Personal Indepedence Payment (PIP)
it is common to get refused first time. Try again.
Perhaps use citizens advice. A minefield but you can get through it.
Hello,
I am sorry to hear your son has had his claim for a Personal Independence Payment refused.
Did he ask for a mandatory review and appeal?
I successfully claimed a PIP which is enhanced for both sections indefinitely.
I found this website invaluable in helping me to fill the form in.
There is an art in how you need to explain how your life is effected by your health condition.

Good luck!
I agree. I used this sight. I was refused 1st time, and my mandatory reconsideration was refused. I then took it to the next step where I pointed out all the areas where I definitely should have received points and why. I then received a phone call going over all of my points and at the end of the phone call the caller agreed to my PIP claim and asked if I was happy with the lower rate. This site helped me greatly.
I photocopied/photographed all forms submitted so you can remember exactly what you have written in case they tried to catch me out.
Apparently it's quite normal to be refused the 1st time but go trough citizens advice, they helped my hubby so much to get it as refused 1st time and he had cancer!
approx 80% get rejected first time round, speak to Citizen’s advice before you try again, they know how to word claims in the right way. Remember its not about the medical conditions, its about how those conditions impact your daily living x
So wrong that you have to go round the houses to get PIP. My brother had to wait ages to get his, he has Hodgkins Lymphoma and a couple of other medical conditions. Im sure they hope you will just give up or maybe even die before you get it.
I was getting DLA for almost 20 years and when it changed to PIP I was refused it. I appealed and got it on appeal as it was a face to face meeting.
As others have noted PIP is based on how your condition affects your ability to walk or look after your personal care. Just because you have a certain condition does not automatically entitle you to PIP. So when you complete the application make sure you put as much as you can about your limitations of walking and your need for help with personal care. Good luck
Include copies of all paperwork you have received about his diagnosis, keep a log of incidents that show how it is affecting him day to dsy, answer ALL parts of each question. when answering questions refer to paperwork detailing incidents and links to HIS diagnosis
i fully support Milkfairy and Maglynne007 - go to the Benefits and Work site, get their support packs and use their support - that's what got me through my appeal when my ESA was reassessed inappropriately and helped me get PIP - filling in the form is gruelling and depressing - just ticking the boxes is not enough, you have to add extra notes about being unable to do "x" repeatedly, reliably and safely in every section
don't give up🙂
Almost everyone gets refused- appeal. They do it to cut down numbers. But first go to the website "Benefits and Work" for advice on how to fill in the forms. It's a minefield. They charge a small amount to get at ALL the advice , just to keep the site going but it's well worth it and far better than places like citizens advice. I've been using their help for 20 years.
