Feeling heart flutters

Hi so I'm 33 year old, I started with heart palpitations about 1 months ago that's when my journey started with 2 trips to A&E, loads of blood tests, ECG tests was done and also a chest X -Ray all came back what the doctor was fine, following these visits I have had serval visits to my local GP practice to dicuss me having a heart rate above 100bpm when walking around (daily activities) these used to accure before instarted taking propranolol 10mg to control my heart palpitations. This has claimed my heart rate down and i have been on propranolol 10mg 4 tablets taken 4 times a day. I have since bought Kardia EKG device recommend by the NHS doctor to monitor however not till recently I has shown only two sinus rhythm issues and been using this for nearly one month. For the past 4 days however I have noticed what I feel is a heart flutter occasionally so not sure if this could be related to a arrhythmia.I am trying meditation, breathing exercises and changing my lifestyle over the past 3/4 weeks cutting out alcohol eating more of a balance nutritional foods and taken up swimming and walking but I'm still waiting on a proper full ECG machine from the doctors and also to hear from the referral I made end of February to see the cardiologist.

Your kardia should say what rhythm you are in, I had AF was told permanent but its not!! I also had been to gp several times with fast heart rate and dizziness, did get ecg but it was ok, it's hard to pinpoint unless your heart misbehaves at the surgery

Sorry for the late reply. Thanks for your reply.

Yeah so the Kardia EKG machine has only come up with premature ventricular contractions twice so far and Afib but only when mu heart rate was above 120bpm. The rest of the time it said I had normal sinus rhythm.

This is it isn't it, until they see if on the ECG machines they use they give you medication to help but I feel the medication has started to give me the PVC.

arrhythmias are hard to diagnose because they are so unpredictable and need to be caught on an ECG. My ectopics then flutters started in my 30s and I was finally diagnosed with SVT aged 49 when my symptoms and episodes got a lot worse. It’s a benign condition but causes much anxiety as it’s so unpredictable - my heart starts racing - triggers can be dehydration, tiredness, hormones, bending down and changes in posture as well as stress and anxiety.

Sorry for the delay in replying.

Did you find in your 30's when they started it come out of nowhere? Was there anything you think could have triggers them, I was told assessive amounts of alcohol or smoking or just being unfit over weight I was told but at the same time my GP asked if I had any family history and I told them my grandparent passed at 54 with a Stoke which then lead to a heart attack but they just dismissed it.

I'm sorry it took them years to diagnose, have your medication for the SVT?

Yeah I keep reading up every they said its not sinister unless it becomes more frequent per day, its only been going on for the past 6 days the flutters and shown up at PVCs on ECG twice but I feel them in my chest.

Its good to know many things are course them, I have recently 3 months ago come of birth control which had been on for over 10 years, weather hormones have brought it on I don't know.

Did you wait long for to see the cardiologist if you don't mind me asking?

The only thing that might have triggered my ectopics was a few years of stress and anxiety - my Mum died of cancer, I got married and bought a house all in my late 20s. I also had a busy job in TV. It might also have been early signs of my SVT starting as they can trigger episodes. I think hormones had an impact - my ectopics were always worse the week before my period and they were terrible during peri menopause. There is some family history. My sister has AFib and my cousin had an ablation in his 20s for heart rhythm issues. I’m now on a beta blocker called Bisoprolol for SVT and since taking it my ectopics have improved massively. I’m on 2.5 mg. I waited 3 months to see a cardiologist and am on a six month waiting list for an ablation now. Hope you get sorted - ectopics aren’t pleasant and any heart issues are worrying and unsettling.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss. It can all add to your anxiety absolutely. I think a few of them things I can certainly relate to so its definitely nice to hear some of these things can be factors, I find it crazy how soo many people have some sort of heart rhythm and that to each person they cant fully in point what is the course but i suppose that's just like everything in life.

Thank you same to you. Hopefully the wait isn't to long for the ablation and all goes well for you.

You are making all the right lifestyle changes so congratulate yourself for that. Meditation to calm anxiety is good if you can keep up with that every day. Outdoor fresh air & exercise will definitely alleviate much of your worries. Palpitations are so common and for most people are not at all serious. (So I've been told by several professionals.) I've actually had palpitations for over 15 years.

Thank you.The heart palpitations have gone more steady now since having the propranolol but iv noticed the heart flutters which the two reports showing up on the kardia EKG machine is that I have premature ventricular contractions however its only been flagged up twice within a 30 second window to detect it. I'll have to ring my GP tomorrow to see if I can get into see him and find out if there is anymore movement or progress on my referral.

So - when did this start? What did you do before it started? Did you do anything out of the ordinary? Anything you can think of?

Iv had two episodes before mid February but I put it down to being hungover from having alcohol. Now since mid February they put me on propranolol I took it as and when required but now I'm on it 10mg x 4 times a day. Its only been the last 5/6 days iv started to feel these hearr flutters and it shows on the ECG Kardia thing I have premature ventricular contractions. The only thing I have stopped doing is having caffeine and cut out alcohol this has been over a month now.
