Really pleased without myself as ive managed to pass the exam for 18th Edition Electrical Regulations today. It was a 5 day course but i did enough in 2 days to take the exam on the 3rd day. And i got the top score in our class. I was really worried i was too old (50) to learn so much information and do such a difficult exam, given ive never done the regs before and ive not done something like this for many years.
It was really stressful and my chest got a bit tight but i think that was just anxiety as it wore off after about half an hour.
This has given me the confidence to try get some further qualifications that will hopefully get me into a different career path, doing something less stressful with a better work/life balance.

Congratulations ! You must be so pleased. And to do it in a shorter time. Good luck with your future plans- you can do it 😊
Respect and congratulations, just goes to show life and aspirations continue upwards and forwards no matter how unlikely it may have seemed in the past.

We are capable of doing many things with will and determination. Always good to take on a challenge and to achieve in whatever way....it's feel good factor which is good for the soul....well done xx
Hey, well done. My husband did this course a few years ago and I know there was a lot of technical information to take in, in a short amount of time.Well done you!!
Thanks for all your kind replies. Its so easy to think your life is changed for the worse after a cardiac event and self sabotage so to speak and accept that thought as true. My heart attack has affected my lifestyle, dont get me wrong, but i want to do whatever i can so it doesnt completely define who I am, my life and that of my wife.
Like i tell my wife there is always an alternative, even if its hard to acheive or not necessarily ideal, f you look into situations properly you can usually come up with a way forward.
Well done At 76 I have learned you are never too old to learn new skills and itsreally good for your brain function too. I hope you find the perfect job for you
Well done, I know how hard it is to do the exam...I did the 17th edition exam and manged to achieve 92%, I really found the exam hard even though the information for the questions was in front of you, you just had to use the index to find the answers..The chest tightness was indeed STRESS, you were luck to only experience this for 30mins, the longest I had experience this was for 2 hours and I was only playing the piano at the time..It was the first time I nevered phone an Ambulance or I nevertheless did not go to ED..When I told my Doctor what I had experience he said I should of phoned for help at the time and got myself to my nearest A&E...The reason I did not go is because iam.made to feel guilty asking for help. I have lost count how many times I phoned for an Ambulance for help and got taken to A&E...Bloods always come back OK, same with ECG but blood pressure is dangerous high and heart rate always around 157bpm to 168bpm but comes down after 30mins, but blood pressure stays high for the rest of the day...Thank you for your post.
Thats a really good grade well done. We did mock exam papers beforehand as practice but when it came to the exam we only had a handful of questions come up that we had covered in the mock exams so that made it even more stressful. I found the questions to do with part 8 and the appendices most difficult, i think thats where i probably lost marks.
Even though i passed im going to do some more mock papers to get myself properly familiarised.
