Hi. I feel like my state is deteriorating. The fatigue isbl getting worse. Its like ive got a window of about 4 hours after i get out of bed where i can do stuff before i start to feeling and look really awful. Im shopping 8n town at the moment and i caught sight of myself in a mirror and i look really haggard ad drawn like ive not slept for 48 hours (which used to happen regularly some years back).
As i day its weird as I can do an hour of cardio high impact circuit training anf not feel bad whikst doing it but after I crash.
I havent done any today and yet i feel im crashing after just a few hours in town gift shopping.
I called cardio rehab helpline but they havent called me back and nobody is answering now.
I called rhe doctor and theyve said they will want to see me and get some more blood tests but ive fot to play the appointment lottery calling bang on at 8am and hope i am lucky enough to get a slot on the day.
I hope i am not heading dor another cardiac event.

I identify with you, Baron, and sympathise. This morning I summarised my own condition here: healthunlocked.com/bhf/post...
Since then I've had to have two hours on the bed and am wondering about the way ahead - except I can't see one. Though my fatigue relates to my replacement heart valve, it's not a matter for Cardiology, but Haematology. On Friday the latter department told me (again) that I should tell my GP: on a previous occasion the latest surgery doctor in a succession glanced through my notes during a telephone appointment, seized on one blood result and mentioned "cancer" - which Haematology ruled out. The ambulance driver who collected me a couple of months ago and took me to Casualty reckoned I should have gone to my GP, who later said that I was right to get to Casualty!
With my next (telephone) appointment with Haematology in early December, it's difficult to see the way ahead. I've got a large spreadsheet of my recent bloods results and am due for more tests before the December appointment.
As I suggested in the other thread, it's very difficult to talk about this with Haematology. and all I've had this summer is two somewhat-rushed telephone discussions with a doctor.
Sorry tobhear about your condition and issues youve had with getting decent answers and support .
I had a callback from Cardio Rehab and they just said donehat im doing and get more tests done through my GP. Im just eorried that they will miss something, focusbin on the first thing that catches their eye.
Ive noticed over the years doctors can do that, they see something that rings a bell that theyve seen before and go down the path that that must be the same thing again.
Its like where i work, some techs work on the principle that just becuase a fault was caused by say a loose wire last time, its bound to be the same thing this time.
Thats fault finding by experience. That works sometimes but when its not what they expected they tend to be stumped and the fault remains undiagnosed. Wheras i look at all the synptoms and then decide on a way to find out whats wrong.
I know docs are pressured for time but i think when youve had heart trouble or cancer they need to take time and actually look carefully at the symptoms as they are now and take a line from that for testing and diagnosis.
Its frustrating for me as i really thought i was getting better but i feel crap again like months ago. I look fir as ive for my muscle tone back but ive only got enough energy for a few hours of activity.
I suppose it could be that the folic acid dosae isnt high enough, or I have anaemia or maybe even the bisoprolol.
I just want to find out whats wrong so i at least know, its the not knowing I hate more than anything.
I’m 18 months on from a triple hbp and did really well at first then got tireder. I’ve started doing a brisk 30 min walk then 30 min exercise my window has now extended to 8 hours and I don’t need an hours nap in the afternoon. I don’t feel full of energy and raring to go but I can do things.
Shortly after posting the above, I came across this on YouTube: youtube.com/watch?v=7OKPjxg... and no doubt there are more harrowing stories being told to the Covid Inquiry. It puts my own circumstances into a perspective of sorts, and it was lucky that my aortic stenosis was diagnosed and assessed in January 2023, rather than a couple of years earlier.
And putting it into perspective contributes to the range of emotions I feel, including realising the challenges facing the NHS, knowing many others are far worse off than me, acceptance that at my age sobering health issues do occur and even having a tiny touch of martyrdom!
I think the nations state of health has declined massively due to a number of contributing factors and will continue to decline if im honest. Long covid, continuing Covid infection, other diseases that are making a comeback like tuberculosis, others thanks to anti vaxxers such as measles and others that are emerging due yo drug resistance. Poverty and cost of living also plays a part too.
I was in C-Op yesterday and inwas looking at everything and thinking how much sugar is in everything or fat. Manufacturers dont really care about healthy eating they just want to sell stuff. Unless you cook everything from scraych, there is very little you can justveat off the shelf that isnt laden with suger, fat or salt.
.
I used to fo slimming world and i did an experiment where i ate their own line of ready meals for a week and I actually put on weight! I told the group leader and she said that it was because i didnt eat them with additional vegetables. Mmm.
After being diagnosed as pre-diabetic, I spent 15 months peering at ingredient labels on tins and packets, and became cynical about those that proclaimed "No added sugar" - all too often there was already enough sugar.
I try to eat well but its simply all too easy to eat badly as youre surrounded by easy to access foodstuff that is bad for you and also designed to make you crave it.
Oh Barron I so empathise as I also am in much the same condition. I can only do about an hour and would collapse if didn’t get back to bed. I had a biventeicular pacemaker fitted 5 weeks ago and gone backwards, wasn’t great anyway but could go for the occasional swim. Just awful and nowhere to go at the moment. I’ll go to Dr next week see what she says…. Please let me know how you get on. X
Hi BaronFrankenstein, sorry to read that you're not feeling too well. Having heart problems is weird, how we feel can change daily, even hourly, one minute full of beans, the next fatigue. I do hope you get blood tests quickly and feel better soon. Take care, and an update would be most welcome. 🫂
Sympathy! Diagnosed with angina - tests - blockage in LAD so a stent. That was in October 2018. Shortness of breath and a general decline ever since. Its so depressing! I've started swimming again - a gap since last October and manage 6 lengths (25 metre pool ) twice a week as my muscle tone is abysmal. I'm89 so yes, I'mlucky ???? to be alive but hey - it's no fun creeping around is it?
Hi if you are taking statins , don't overdo the exercise, it's recommended light to moderate exercise, to much will cause muscle soreness and make you over tired.
Get your bloodtests at the very least to rule out any underlying issues. You can have some off days, which is normal. But persistent fatigue for no reason needs further investigation.
