Blood pressure drops by afternoon, fatigue .

Hi everyone, I’ve noticed that I’m falling asleep in the afternoons after working outdoors . GP asked me take my BP readings for 5 days as I said I’m still not feeling full of energy , feel cold etc. Recently changed from 80mg arvovastatin to 40mg Pravastatin. BHF online nurse thinks it could be my beta blockers, only on 1.25mg Bisoprolol and half a tablet of 1.25mg ramipril. Yesterday morning BP was around 115/75 , by 14:00 it was 101/63 and I was knackered .

resting average heart rate is 44-49. It was low prior to my Nstemi but has dropped a few beats .

Anyone else had similar experiences? I will be going back to GP .

Daft question but are you consistently drinking enough fluids and eating.

One major thing I discovered was before my HA and medicines I could skip lunch, survive on a few cups of coffee.

Now if I don't eat regularly, don't drink enough water I get dizzy and usually it's my blood pressure that's dropped.

It happened a few times when I skipped lunch, water intake but never happens when I eat and drink normally.

Really not daft question Baly 👍🏻. I’m very conscious of the amount of sweaty work I get through daily and I need ruined times my doc thst I was fed up of this low feeling , so I started taking half a tablet of electrolytes in 500ml water , same ones I used to take in my bidon when cycling with a club. Doc told me to stop using them , I’m not convinced… I will have one with me today , see if that makes a difference,. I’ve got a pretty set routine, breakfast & meds , admin 10-10:30 yard work , walk Lurcher, drink around 11:30-12 water and coffee , (sometimes snack) until 13:00 .. lunch .. rest then back out . Was doing yoga and running on top and enjoying it 👍🏻. Will see how todays stats go.

Looks like your on top of the intake schedule 👍

I take electrolytes ( flavoured) as I can't drink plain water it's so boring.

Fingers crossed, hopefully it's just a few blips 👍

Not medical advice , suggestions and opinions only.

Looks like it should be sortable through BP adjustments, if not I would request an MPI scan to determine if there is any long term damage to your heart muscles.

You may well be what is called a hyper responder to Beta blockers!

Thanks Bluehope, I will take note of that term hyper responder 👍🏻..

Had ecg & echo in November , consultant very pleased to report normal heart rhythm from ECG , echocardiogram shows good cardiac contractility and normal ejection fraction 👍🏻 Will have a telecon follow up in a month or two. Was told post surgery that I was lucky , had no damage to my heart . Fingers crossed that’s still the case . I know things can change …

Not medical advice, opinions an suggestions only.

ECG cannot look at the overall blood flowing to the heart muscles in the same way an MPI scan can.

You can have high EF and 20% blood flow impairment from the MPI scan.

but it's more likely your BP is the issue.

Very much appreciate this Bluehope, I can at least have a discussion with my GP/consultant armed with a better understanding and some knowledge from shared experiences. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻.

ask your GP for an Echo. It will check your ejection fraction. That is how well your heart is pumping along with other things. Apologies if you have had this done. Best wishes A

I'm on same dose if bisoprolo and 40 atorvastatin .if not working but just resting then I too can easily fall asleep in afternoon.my bp and heart rate are also similar to yours. Unfortunately I've never spoken to cardiologist in 4 years I've had stents and gp just says carry on as you are.ok as long as I get no symptoms.hope this helps
