High blood pressure query.

Hi. I’m new here. I have been recently diagnosed with high BP. I have now been on 2.5mg of ramapril for 4 weeks. I had my BP checked by practice nurse today. It was 172/100. (Not much better than before I started the medication). As I hadn’t taken my medication that morning(I always take it at teatime) she told me to come back in two weeks and take my tablet before my appointment. Am I wrong to be concerned about this? Surely, no matter when I take my tablet, my BP shouldn’t still be this high....at any time of day?

Thank you for any advice.

I was ramapril, for my BP, after a while it does work, just as long you dnt do nothing to make your bp blow up, it takes time but stay with it it and things should go to normal,

Sounds wrong to me as it needs to be controlled 24 x 7. Maybe you need split dosing - a.m. and p.m.

Do as doc says it takes time to settle, many of us have had to change medication sever times before we become our stable normal

Don't worry about this Suzuki1 as you are only at the start of your bp journey.Sometimes bp is higher in the doctor's surgery....mine certainly is.Also you are on quite a low dose of ramipril so maybe you will need a slightly higher dose.Focus on improving those things you can: eat a healthy diet, take time to relax and get regular exercise. You can also get support from the high blood pressure support group on this site or from the Blood Pressure Association. bloodpressureuk.org. Hope things settle soon.

Hi agree with splitting dose. I was in hosp. and I was told ramipril(which I take) works better taken twice daily e.g.. morning and about tea time
