Hi, does anyone get inconclusive ecg results when taking using a Samsung Galaxy watch? Taken readings about 10 times in past few hours and all the same result, inconclusive. Feel a little out of sorts but nothing major heart at 40 bpm wondering if this is why?

If you've done so many in such a shirt time the inconclusive results could be because of the way you are making contact with the sensor , the way you are wearing the watch when you took it, too much movement , low blood pressure in your periphery, or other electrical or computer interference in the area you are in.All of these things commonly affect all Smartwatch ECG readings regularly either providing incorrect diagnosis or inconclusive results . Smart watches can be inaccurate and are not an infallible way to get cardiac readings , they can only be used as a guideline and it's your symptoms that are more important.

Kardia type ECG devices are more useful , and it's good to recheck your watch results with one if you have that device, but they are not totally accurate either.

If you continue to take them in a short period diagnosis anxiety can then also affect your results.

If you feel you are symptomatic, particularly if you are suffering chest pain , breathing difficulty and other cardiac symptoms then you need to be checked. You should contact your GP or go for an out of hours appointment . Your blood pressure does appear to be low which may be the cause of your symptoms so it's better to be safe than sorry and get some medical advice.

Take care , Bee

I have an Apple Watch. If I continuously take an ECG back to back, the results come back inconclusive or don’t pick up a proper reading at all. The sensor is sensitive and is not like the ECG lead device at hospitals. Like Blearyeyed has already suggested, Kardia devices can be more accurate than smart watches.

If you are experiencing new or concerning symptoms, then that would warrant a call to 111. Otherwise, if you are concerned about your low heart rate, make an appointment with your GP in the morning and they can advise further.

All the best.

An Apple Watch ECG will be marked as "Inconclusive" if the heart rate is above 120 or below 50 bpm. Assuming that the Samsung watch ECG is similar, I suspect that at 40bpm you will always get an "Inconclusive" result. In your first post a few months back you mentioned that you had a mechanical heart valve fitted recently and were taking Bisoprolol, which limits heart rate. Since 40bpm is below the normal range of 50-100bpm, it may be time for you to ask your GP or cardiologist to review your medication.

Best wishes,

Paul

My husband bout me an Apple Watch soon after I was diagnosed with heart failure three years ago. I am now taking my meds and doing fine. In all the three years I have had the watch I have never once had a normal reading - it comes back as inconclusive every time - even now and I am fine. It used to worry me in the beginning, now I ignore it. I thing these watches are very primitive, and will read as inconclusive over the smallest little unimportant thing. If you think about it they have too, as if not everyone would be running to the doctors and suing the companies constantly . These watches are not medical devices, and should never be seen as such.

If you are worried go and see your GP (and don't feel bad doing so). Always remember these watches are not meant to replace proper advice and knowledge (or proper medical devices).

40bpm is fairly low assuming you are not a world class athlete?. As stated above see your GP regarding a medicine review.

It could be because of that slow heart rate. I note that "inconclusive"also occurs with arrhythmias other than A Fib & the watch also misdiagnoses irregular rhythms as A Fib at times. As I have a lot of experience interpreting EKGs & cardiac arrhythmias, I can overread the misreads by the Galaxy watch
