Apple Watch readings

my readings all come up inconclusive when I check ,usually when I can feel heart pounding and fast pulse. Did get a couple of sinus rhythms when I felt normal just to compare. I have previously had AF bigemany and ectopic beats that is why I purchased the watch , On the usual heart meds ! Any comments please

The Apple Watch is pretty good at what it does but it’s not brilliant. As I have said before I’m a paramedic and when we turn up the Zoll monitor that we use to ecg’s is a £20,000 bit of kit so I think the Apple Watch is a pretty good bit of kit.

The problem comes when you have af or odd beats your pulse is not your heart beat, your pulse can be 80 then when you put a high quality 4 lead or 12 lead monitor it actually shows that your heart is 120 .

I’m not entirely sure how Apple read a rhythm but it can’t be as accurate as proper ecg dots otherwise we would use apple’s technology and not keep spending a fortune on dots and equipment.

I know this doesn’t really answer you question but it may help you understand the reason it’s not always correct.

Thanks

The Kardia mobile is recommended by Nice (I believe) and certainly the FDA. My cardiologist recommended it. It takes a one or 6 line ecg. You place 2 fingers on it (for the one line ecg) and it transmits the data to your phone. It indicates if you have some form of irregular heartbeat (afib, tachycardia etc.) The idea is that you can send the output in PDF form to your cardiologist.

yes the Apple Watch also sends pdf to GP. I know these things aren’t spot on but they are a guide. Have paid out for Apple Watch so won’t be buying anything else. Thanks for the reply

The zoll monitor and the bits that go with it. A lot of our bits are expensive because of the design and out door use, our Stiker Cary chairs are £3,500 and our stretchers are £6000.

I’ve been feeling a bit unwell the last 8 days , lots of fluttering feelings in my chest which I haven’t felt before , out of curiosity I did sn ecg on my watch and when I felt the flutters it showed an extra spike compared to previous ecgs . I do have a pacemaker but I’ve never had this fluttering before show up on watch ecg . I don’t take much notice if the watch readings tbh .
