7 days post and home.

Hi the next installment, I got admitted as planned and the operation went well, the surgeon had to change from keyhole to open surgery as something wasn't quite right so it took a bit longer than expected about 4hrs 30. Woke up in HDU feeling like a double decker bus had run over and to be honest I am not that much better now, the pain has been awful. I have been assured umpteen times that everything is absolutely fine the wound is healing nicely and I will need to balance exercise and pain killers for the next few weeks, I like neither of them 😅 there was no more they could do in hospital and it is so much better being home. I have got oxycodene and paracetamol at the moment. I have to go back in three months for another colonoscopy and polyps at the left side have to be removed, what a thought having to go through that again. I don't remember it being as painful as this when I got my transplant but they said abdominal surgery is worse and I have already had a hysterectomy so lots of scarring. You are a miracle that is for sure what you have already been through and now you have had to go through this and yet here you are I know in pain but you have done it and I am so pleased even though I am sorry that they could not do it keyhole way

I can imagine you are not looking forward to the next treatment but for now take each day at a time be kind to yourself you are certainly a warrior and I know you will soon be on those holidays you enjoy and so deserve

Morning and thanks for your lovely reply, I am so glad it's over for now and I am back home. It's a bit of a struggle at the moment but hopefully it will improve as the days go on. Char x

You have had a long surgery and thank goodness your home now and can start your recovery in comfort. Don't understand why you're not up for running a marathon or doing a hundred press ups a day😁I think as we get older it definitely takes longer to recover from major surgery so don't push yourself and get plenty of rest. As for the painkillers you should definitely take them to ease the pain and get some decent sleep.

It's going to take time to recover so don't spend too much time thinking about your next surgery, give yourself a pat on the back for getting through this part so well, you are much stronger than you think and you are amazing considering all you have been through already.

I do recall my sister only being kept in overnight after her colon cancer surgery but she did have a carer go in to help her at home for a few weeks after.

Thanks, ooft I could not imagine getting sent home the next day I think I was totally gaga and covered in wires 😅and drips. The surgeon was lovely she came to see me every day, she was very pleased with how it went apart from not being able to do it all keyhole but what she did do was kept the scar to the minimum, it practically joins my OHS one It's like a big zip! She answered all my questions and listened to my fears, she is so supportive. Time to be patient and let it heal, char x

😅😅it is very neat I think it will be hardly noticeable once it heals, I am sitting plucking up courage to administer the anti clotting Jag to myself, this is the first time I have had to do it x

Deep breath you can do it, hope it's one of the posh needles were you barely feel it going in, it's just making the initial stab once you've done it you'll be doing each one better than before. Xx

I keep looking at the box and thinking that it's best to just get on with it as it has to be done, I have just noticed after 8 days that I have no Belly button 🤔🤔x

Did you have a tummy tuck on the sly on the nhs😃, mine disappeared month's ago all flab can only just see my feet😕. I'm trying my best not to eat more than 1000 calories a day, for me it's lack of exercise.I'm not complaining really. I hope you're being well looked after and spoilt rotten, rest up and get the television on, funny film on Prime if you have it is Come As You Are, may give you a giggle and laughter is the best medicine😁

😅😅I wouldn't see nursing as Stevens strongest point, I will just have to sit and issue some orders to keep the house running smoothly until I get on my feet, it's so frustrating when you try and do something and then realise you won't be able to do it for ages, I do have prime TV I will give it a watch x

I'm sure he's doing his best for you.Totally understand on the frustration not being able to do things for yourself but believe me before you know it you'll be able to do what you want, you know the mundane stuff like cooking, cleaning and shopping.

My sister has her shoulder replacement surgery next week and I bet she won't be able to do anything for ages but I'm sending her two parcels one full of chocolate and English newspapers and the second parcel contains rubber gloves, fish cloths and floor cleaning brushes, they'll all be good exercise for her shoulder😁

😅 she will definitely appreciate them 👍he is doing ok I am just grumpy and frustrated not being able to do anything and when I try to it takes forever with some choice words thrown in 😱oh dear. We did walk round the garden yesterday might try two laps today, it is the size of a postage stamp but nice to get some fresh air x

Your doing really well, any walk no matter how short is going to help you with your recovery.Yes thankfully my sister gets my sense of humour😀

Although I do recall when I had my lung surgery and asked her to wash my hair she was adamant it would be better if I did it myself to get all the muscles they cut working, she sat and watched while I struggled and said many choice words but I know she was being cruel to be kind, so this is payback😁

Hello Char. So glad you've had the op and are back home. The painkillers should help but exercise!! Keep us update with your recovery and just know we are all thinking of you and hubby.
