I'm looking for information about travel insurance companies having had mild heart attack last year. Hoping to go abroad this year. Have used Staysure in the past.

Hi, I had a heart attack 3 months ago, had a stent. I asked my travel insurer (Aviva) if I needed to do anything with my existing annual policy, was I still covered etc, and they said I was still covered, didn't even need to declare anything for the current year (already paid for) but I would have to declare it on renewal. So I applied online for insurance as a new customer (to see what difference it would make), declared my heart attack and stent, and it was fine, they were happy to cover it, and the cost was unchanged. I also asked a few other patients who had heart attacks and stents and they had no issues either, but I don't know who they got cover through. Don't know about bypasses, expect it would be the same. May depend on how recent it was.
