Elvis's daughter, Lisa Marie, has died of a cardiac arrest at the young age of 54. It does make you wonder if there is a hereditary issue in play. I don't think she really got over the death of her son just over two years ago. For her mother, Priscilla, the loss of a grandson and now her daughter must be hard to process.
RIP Lisa Marie

As far as Elvis is concerned I'd guess all those cheeseburgers and opiates might have had something to do with it! Obesity and T2 diabetes, fuelled with a diet of fast food and drugs, is a pretty tough cardiac challenge for anyone, no matter what genes they've been given.
Whilst I completely agree with you about life style etc I know of someone who's staple diet was chocolate and crisps & I mean the 6 pack of crisps eaten in 1 day!! Incredibly unhealthy diet, absolutely no exercise at all. Excessive alcohol on occasions, down from weekly & smokes like a trooper! Apparently you can buy 2 lengths of cigarettes, the smaller length was smoked at home the longer length kept for during breaks at work! So she'd have one at 10.30, the next at 11.30, another at 2o/c &, the last one at 4/o/c & then back on to the smaller ones!! As soon as she woke up she'd light a cigarette! Then working from home started & the diet, smoking etc worsened. She's never had any cardiac issues, not even high cholesterol until she was 61/62yo. She's now on statins, as it's now caught up with her. She's also stopped smoking, don't know if the diet has improved, exercise definitely hasn't! I know 61/62 is still quite young, but that's not too bad an age for someone with her lifestyle. Most of us would have keeled over long before then!
Yeah absolutely, I'm not defending her! I'm just replying to chappychap that despite her horrendous lifestyle this person had no heart issues & still has no heart issues other than high cholesterol!
No one knows what her mental health state is. My autistic brother incarcerated in units for 40 years, diabolical βfoodβ, smoked terribly, no entertainment like tv or going out, was amazingly healthy considering but, killed by hospital negligence π€·πΌββοΈ
My Father died at 65 with Heart failure, would never go to the doctors, a terrible diet and a smoker in the pottery industry. When younger I was the same but managed to change life style later. I have HF and DB2 I often wonder if he had the same treatment he would have survived longer. I smoked from the age of 12 but I'm glad to say I have it to 76 thanks to the NHS.
Very sad. I wonder if there was a hereditary issue at play or congenital. But it is concerning how many people get heart attacks. Is it something to do with stress the way we live?. Or the virus that carnt be named. ? I have my theories or have I watched too much you tube. Very sad though.
A gorgeous photo Michael, great choice. Very sad news, heredity and life style choices possible factors π€·π½ββοΈ Too young to lose another talented person. Thinking of her mum & family/friends ππΌ
Maybe it was takotsubo cardiomyopathy as she talked about the extreme emotional pain of losing her son and she also had her fortune squandered by her manager.
I had a terrible shock in march 2021 & within an hour had a heart attack had an angiogram no blockages but a cardiac mri reveals myocarditis my troponin levels were over a 1000, one dr argued it could of been a form of takotsubo it took a while to recover
Then I lost my son to suicide in April & the pain in my heart/chest has gotten overwhelming Iβve had an echo to rule out a recurrence of heart failure but Iβm sure people do die from a broken heart π poor Lisa marie so much pain to bear & while living your life under a spotlightπͺ
She had been in and out of rehab and I believe had previously taken amounts of class 1 drugs plus alcohol. These put as great strain on her heart. Having said that it was obvious she was very unwell at the golden globes and bearing in mind her fame and the spotlight on her I am surprised no one told her to see a medic pronto or no doctor contacted her. The emotional strain on her obviously didn't help.
Please can we stop speculating about drugs. Despite other outside factors a hereditary one seems very likely. Elvis's mother, Gladys, died of a cardiac arrest at 46, 19 years to the day before Elvis died and his father, Vernon, died two years after Elvis of a heart attack at just 63.
Lisa Marie had had issues with perscription drugs but many here are on daily painkillers. I take Gabapentin three times a day for phantom pain and am on Oxycodone as a PRN. The Oxycodone is kept is a slightly awkward to access place so I just can't reach out for it.
The world has lost a talented individual and her mother and children are having to cope with the grief..
Michael her issues with drug addiction and use were well documented as a youngster and in her forties where she temporarily lost custody of her children. I suspect it was a mixture of that and the Presley family genetics for heart issues. I thought she looked dreadful at the Golden Globes but as always it such a shock when someone so young succumbs.
Yes I have seen for myself and its common knowledge that your genetics play a major role in any illness you may develop and heart issues are the top of the list, mention to a doctor your parents died young from heart issues and watch the way he carries out his tests on you differ. Its also true for a lot of cancers, Dementia etc. How many people here have close relatives who died from early heart diseases and I bet you most of us!. The best way if this is you is to get yourself tested on a regular basis and if you feel something is going wrong have that checked soonest. Of course exercise and a healthy lifestyle is essential as well. I know families where one after the other came down with heart issues at a very young age, and I know families whose parents lived to ripe old ages without any issues who eat, smoke and drink excessively and never seem to suffer from anything serious at all. Strange thing genetics as the saying goes black cat- black kitten.
What we should remember is, at the moment all we know is she had a cardiac arrest. There has been no mention of heart or drug issues, you can have a cardiac arrest that's totally unrelated! What we do know is a beautiful young woman has passed away far too early and I don't doubt her family are devastated.
I have been a fan of Elvis all my life & feel so incredibly sad for Priscilla his wife , who has seen both Elvis & his Mother both die in their 40βs from cardiac issues (no screening in those days) and now to her daughter from the same thing. Maybe the causes, were different but the outcome is still the same. Devastating for the family. From all of us hearties, sending loads of love.
A death is devastating to those around the individual, no matter their lifestyle or genetics. Something I often find myself plagued by in concern for my family and the potential impact my health could have on them.
A beautiful photo choice MichaelJH I must say! My thoughts go out to her family and friends during such a sad and difficult time.
I think there is a hereditary link, my Dads 4 brothers, including my Dad died of heart issues, I have had to have a pacemaker fitted and my son had a scare last year and was diagnosed with pericarditis.
There should be no place here for people who come to gloat, or criticize others at time of human tragedy. Second guessing causes, and lifestyles of people whom no one here knows, is just unacceptable and unworthy of this forum. If we cannot show simple human compassion, it is best to say nothing at all.
