Hi, sorry to hear you are having chest pains, me too. I had a HA in April 2019 with 2 stents and have continued chest pain and discomfort ever since daily. I have had many trips to A&E and ecgs, X-ray, stress echo, tropin etc all ok. I am still struggling and trying to get some answers. I feel your worries x

Thankyou @ Poosage.I just don't understand. The stent is supposed to stop all chest pain. It can become frightening. Too many trips to A&E and no answers.

Thankyou for your advice.

Hi possage similar to you I had 2 stents aug 20, ever since had chest pain tightness and discomfort some time left sometimes right side. All cardiac tests are normal had 2 CT angiogram, 1 thallium scan , 3 Sub optimal ETT all ok. At the same time developed extreme bloating, gas and stomach fullness on eating. My blood pressure now never goes above 120/80. I do walk brisk pace with 110 heart rate for 25-30 minutes every day with continuous chest pain and discomfort.

Not taking any bp med, statins etc just aspirin and 1.26 nebivolol. My cardiologist stopped my plavix at 6 months afyer all tests were normal. My blodd pressure drops to 100-62 after eating for 2 hours. Than again 110/70 range.

No one can find any reason for my chest pain. Its severe enough to get me to ER 4 times. Going for endoscopy tmrw to get stomach screened! Fingers crossed still alive

Fingers crossed for you 🤞. I have no alternative but to go private as my GP still says it’s muscular and won’t refer me back to cardiology. I am waiting on a call next week and going to suggest Microvascular Angina . A bit confused as Tramadol helps with the pains sometimes but Angina spray does nothing . All the best. Sue x

Has anybody considered non obstructive coronary artery disease?

Angina can also be caused by the coronary blood vessels not working properly either going into temporary spasms or not dilating properly even after stents or coronary bypass surgery.

Microvascular angina or vasospastic angina.

I only could wish that it hadn’t taken me so long to discuss the above conditions with my EP , I was one of those women who presented with random symptom in my mid 40’s , doing a fairly physical flying job , many years passed by before I was finally diagnosed & treated . I’m so lucky 🍀 to be here

I'm a female in my 40's and have had an nstemi with one stent. All due to poor family history. I'm an active person too. Doctors didn't diagnose myself properly. Now after having the stent I'm in chest pain all too often. Doctors are now unsure how to treat me. I'm incredibly frustrated with touch of concern. Thanks for your response.

I suggest you ask to see a Cardiologist who has some expertise in treating patients with microvascular and vasospastic angina.

There was a major report published

The Lancet Women and Cardiovascular Disease Commission last month.

It highlights how women often have Ischaemia with non obstructive coronary arteries INOCA which you can have as well as obstructive coronary artery disease too.

Microvascular and vasospastic are under recognised, under diagnosed and under treated causes of angina.

These conditions tend to effect women more than men.

Prof Angela Maas one of the co authors of the Lancet report has written a really good book about how heart disease effects women.

Hi Znorfolf I had lots of pains for 5 years after my stents and negative angiograms .Finally after having a special angiogram l have been diagnosed with micro vascular disease (syndrome x) Maybe worth asking the question? Good luck

The term now more commonly used in is microvascular dysfunction or angina.

Any Cardiologist still using the outdated term cardiac syndrome X perhaps isn't as up to date as they should be about Ischaemia non obstructive coronary arteries INOCA the umbrella term for vasospastic and microvascular angina.

Hi I had a stent due too 99% lcx artery blockage june 2021 I'm still experiencing chest pain, dull ache etc. Very frustrating when GP gives you the all clear....

well these related comments are very interesting to me.

INSTEMI August this year and one stent fitted.

Now on 80mg statin and 5 other meds. HA from inherited gene giving high cholesterol.

I now have the tightness in the chest even when resting. Noticed it yesterday when swimming but no shortness of breath. I too have experienced odd “heart pains” with one day a “shooting “ through the heart. Finding it all a bit worrying as mine is cholesterol related and not disease or damage. Starting to think I was imagining it as I’m now more aware. However it is not imaginary.

So I have empathy with others having these effects and look forward to reading any outcomes.
