The pain can be normal depending upon the severity, you can still get some pain after one year but usually not severe.I can only speak from personal experience but 19 weeks post op stairs were absolutely no problem in fact I was back out riding my bike after 12 weeks

Definitely worth going to the doctor's and having a discussion. Post op support seems to be very poor generally, you think after such a major op you would get care but no just sent home after a week and left to your own devices!

that’s hard, you should have been given contact details following the op with a cardiac support team, contact them as well they are very helpful. I wish you well.

I don't know your age or previous state of health.

I had a quad in May 22. Chest still hurt for at least 6 months and exacerbated if you get into an awkward position or drive too much. I still get twinges now.

Breathlessness can be caused by several factors. Have you got a follow up due at all as best to ask your consultant to ensure it is not related to the operation?

However, many medications cause breathlessness. it is worth looking at the medication leaflet but bisoprolol is often mentioned.

Having said that, weather conditions can play a big part. Your recovery has coincided with a lot of rain and humidity both of which impact on the heart as can heat and cold

Do you have a hygrometer as you can check the relative humidity inside your house. Anything above 60% is likely making the situation worse.

Hi minimoomo, we’re you fit and healthy prior to the event and surgery ? I had quadruple bypass on July and and was back riding my motorcycle and working round my smallholding in under 10 weeks. However, I was fit and strong prior and have made an amazing recovery. Agrd 61. I’m so sorry to hear that you are struggling . Have you signed up to cardiac rehab ,if they have it in your area ? I’d recommend it and to get back in touch with your consultant to mention your situation.

Wishing you a comfortable and merry Christmas, Wizza ❤️

I’m 71, male, had 2 x PCI, AVR and a precautionary CABG. My operation was 6 months ago today. I did my first ever Parkrun (5km) 3 months ago tomorrow, I’ve got slight niggles from my right pectoral muscle but other than that I’m back to normal. In fact my level of fitness is where I was 12 years ago!

Cardiac rehab is, imho, essential for a proper recovery. It seems that folks experience of rehab is very variable around the country. I consider myself very lucky in the way my treatment and rehab went, my PCI was just 5 days after my heart attack ( a silent one). The AVR and CABG was a further 3 1/2 weeks after that, I had a total of 36 days in hospital. The rehab staff were brilliant as were all the hospital staff in both hospitals I was in.

Pre op I was out of breath climbing one flight of stairs and had to sit for up to 5 minutes to recover. Walking to the local shop (1/4 mile) was extremely difficult. All of this was triggered, it seems, in October 22 but not sure exactly what the cause was.

Have you got contact details for your local cardiac rehab team. If so chase them for your rehab, otherwise contact the cardiac team at the hospital. And certainly talk to your GP about the symptoms you are suffering.
