Hi everyone. First post here. Had surprise NSTEMI in May (no apparent prior signs). Two narrowings in Left Circumflex and a blockage in RCA identified 2 days later in angiogram with immediate placement of 3 stents. On dual antiplatelet treatment (aspirin & prasugrel), with bisoproplol, ramipril and atorvastatin. Have made a good recovery thanks to Cardio Rehab team and follow on support from GP, as well as daily exercise and big change of diet. Have lost 17kg. Back at work since September. Don't feel quite the same though! Had a holiday in West Wales for a week end of October (10 minutes from nearest A&E) which was very restorative. Now thinking about next summer family holiday when I will have come off the prasugrel. My wife is from Sri Lanka. We have 2 children (10 & 13). We haven't been back to Sri Lanka since 2016 despite many efforts which were thwarted by Covid (2020 & 2021) and HA last May. I am wondering about the wisdom of making the long flight (12 hours) to stay 4 weeks in a fairly remote part of the island in a very hot and humid climate for 4 weeks. Has anybody done such a holiday? Medical facilities are not the best even in larger urban areas. Worried about another HA and being unable to get to specialist treatment in a timely manner. Is it wise to take such a trip for such a duration to such a climate and location? Are there implications also for the meds in such circumstances? Any advice on specialist travel insurance if it is ok to travel there? Any observations or reflections would be gratefully received.

Holiday advice
Hello
Just been looking through unanswered posts so I am sure you will have either been on holiday by now and if so I hope you were ok and you and your family enjoyed it x
Thanks for taking the time to reply. I took early retirement in the New Year to concentrate on looking after myself and my wife and children. I am in a much healthier situation now in terms of diet, medication and exercise. We have postponed the long haul holiday in hot and humid Sri Lanka for another year. We have however journeyed to Ireland and hope to go to Italy for a week later in the year. So I’m hoping my health progress continues and my confidence with venturing abroad increases.
Hello
I am glad you managed to take early retirement so you could look after yourself and your family and it is good to read you are now doing better
It is a long haul flight to Sri Lanka and I imagine you really need to feel you are fit enough to face it but I think you will eventually and meanwhile you are having some Holidays which your family as well as yourself will have been enjoying Ireland is a lovely place and Italy also
Confidence can be something we all struggle with but what you are doing to help regain yours I think will make a big difference and do let us know not if but when you get to go to Sri Lanka eventually because I believe you will and will look out for that post
Keep doing what you are doing it sounds like it is suiting you x
