I am a 62 yr old woman and have 2.1 av block, I am tachycardic most days sometimes it doesn’t last long but most of the time it’s every other day all day and suddenly my heart rate drops to between 40 and 56 every other day. I have been waiting for an appointment with my cardiologist and have left 3 messages for someone to call me back but I have heard nothing and I’m so worried all the experts are interested in is if I get a chest pains ring an ambulance straight away ( which I haven’t had … yet) and now I’ve started wit a persistent cough mainly at night.

Thank you for the quick reply 😘 my doctors have said there hands are tied because I’m now under the cardiologist. It seems no one wants to know unless I have chest pains then I must ring 999.
I feel like they are waiting for me to have a heart attack😩 my mums side of the family have mostly all died in there 40s and 50s with the same hereditary heart disease.
Hi Dee, how long have you been waiting ? Have you written to the cardiologist as well (audit trail) ? Have you mentioned the persistent cough to your GP?
I’d also be very frustrated and concerned in your position, it’s such a weight to carry every day.
Have you tried contacting a British Heart Foundation specialist ? They will call you back to fud us matters and will give good advice 👍.
I hope you get a speedy resolution Dee , all the best , Wizza .
You are in the “routine” schedule … could take months to get seen as you are not deemed urgent at the moment. I would follow up , in writing (audit trail ) and call the secretary to explain current situation and that you need some reassurance that your condition not deteriorating while waiting. I would also contact the BHF medical team and run it all by them for further advice . Like others have said , you just have to keep pushing on behalf of yourself.
keep phoning and also send some letters explaining your symptoms. You can explain more in a letter. I worked for the NHS for over 40 years and I know that the more noise you make the more you get. It’s totally wrong but I’ve seen it happen again and again. Good luck
My advice would be to get to your nearest A&E explain that you have cardiac issues explain your symptoms and do not minimise them. If the system works the same as it does in Sussex, they will get in touch with Cardiology who will if they feel it necessary arrange for an admission for checks. The whole NHS is broke and the GP's / referal system is not fit for purpose (IMHO).
