SVT ABLATION

I had ablation for SVT 10:weeks ago, after wards I was getting short runs of my heart trying to go into a SVT attack in the night, I was put back onto Bisoprolol 1.25 to take before I went to bed. That seemed to stop it but now I,m getting very low blood pressure during the day and feeling lightheaded. My lowest blood pressure reading 88 over55 and heart rate 59. My electrophysiologist will be phoning me on the 13th. I feel quite breathless most of the time too. Has anybody had problems after ablation. I,m disappointed because I expected to feel better after this procedure. I avoided this procedure for 6 years before my SVT attacks became more regular and needed hospital treatment to put it back to normal.

Hi there.I would have a few questions for your telephone chat but Bisoprolol made me very breathless just walking to the kitchen to put the kettle on.I tried various BBs then was switched to verapimil which worked a treat and breathless Ness disappeared.Good luck.

Thanks for your reply! I have been taking Bisoprolol for over 4 years and it made me feel unwell but I kept taking it because of my attacks of SVT, not that it helped because I was still getting attacks and having the dreaded adenosine. I had to stop taking it 3 days before my ablation but had to go back on it again because of the short runs.Actually on one recent trip to the hospital with my heart at 172 a doctor at resus used verapamil and it immediately went down because I refused adenosine. I will mention this when the electrophysiologist phones me.

Hello there , sorry to hear that you are struggling after your ablation, you must feel disappointed to have to go back on Bisoprolol . I had an ablation for AF & AFlutter a year ago & like you had to go back onto Bisoprolol 1.25 for high heart rate . I had your symptoms too but I found that after a month or so they settled down . My blood pressure remained low but my body got used to it & I plodded on for 6 months . I then came off it to see if everything had settled down and it had . So I’m now on no meds and doing well . I found that as the months went by I was still making improvements , however small and even now over a year later , I still feel I’m improving. There are lots of choices in BB , so don’t be afraid to ask to swap . It is early days with your ablation so let’s hope things settle down soon 🙏

Thanks for your reply! You give me hope that things will improve but will take longer because of my age. I live alone but am very independent, the nights make me anxious when my heart is pounding. I expected too much when I thought I would be fine and not have this SVT waiting to pounce on me.

Oh bless you . Yes I agree the nights are the worst and the anxiety takes over . It must be so hard on your own . Have a chat with your EP about changing your meds if you continue to struggle, to something that may make you feel far more settled & allow your confidence to grow . Wishing you all the best 🙏
