My SVT is getting worse and I’m having break through episodes despite being on beta blockers. I am considering asking for an ablation and am interested in reading other people’s experiences of deciding to go ahead with the procedure and whether it cured the condition for good. Thank you 🙏

SVT Journey
Hi, I have SVT, diagnosed with the help of a Loop recorder. I was on a high dose of calcium channel blockers but it did nothing to help these episodes. They had to be stopped because of electrical problems with my heart while I waited for a pacemaker. In September 2021 an attempt at ablation was made but unfortunately the EP specialist who had successfully ablated AF for me, was unable to pinpoint exactly where the problem was coming from because my heart would not stay in SVT long enough to do the ablation. Reluctantly I decided to start on Flecainide as the SVT was happening anything form 1-5 episodes a day which was causing some breathlessness and chest pain. Although Flecainide is controlling it I'd much prefer to have the ablation done than take medication and IF given an opportunity to have another attempt at ablation I'd gladly go for it.
It cured my 12 year old God daughters SVT
. She had been on flecanide since the age of 3 ( made up into a syrup)Had her ablation a month after me last year, now playing hockey, cricket, football with no issues ( she always did sports but with caution) she had to wait until she was a certain age and weight.
Ablation for myself was for AFcand AFlutter ,again 95% successful.
Hi I had several ablations for SVT, later renamed Atrial Tachycardia. In the end I had a pace and ablate because it started coming out of my AVnode. Mine was continuous but after the ablations it would stop for a while then it would start up again. They discovered as they ablate it would spring up elsewhere and once ablation was done my heart would pump better. So the tachycardia was actually stopping my heart from working. I now get Afib and non sustained VTs. All the best
Thank you for sharing your story.
Hi, I have recently been diagnosed with SVT. My episodes started 6 years ago but unfortunately no medical professionals were taking my case seriously until I tracked an episode on an Apple Watch using the ECG setting - this was a life saver! After seeing cardiology a month ago, they have immediately referred me for catheter ablation surgery and prescribed me flaecenide in the meantime (as a pill-in-the-pocket). Given my age (23) they said that the surgery is the best course of treatment, fingers crossed it goes ok. The cardiologist said it has been very successful in curing future SVT episodes in other patients and they are confident it will work for me. I hope this helps!
Thanks for sharing - I’m hoping I will get referred to. Do you know how long you have to wait for the procedure?
