Hey all,

I’m coming up to 11 weeks post OHS and have been told by a medical professional who’s a friend that silicone strips are useful on the surgery scars? Has anyone got any experience in using these strips or have any tips on which ones actually work?

Hi, I tried silicone strips a few times as my scar healed well initially, then became keloid. I found the silicone tape more of a comfort than an actual treatment, but a paramedic I saw in the first weeks of healing did suggest silicone tape too. This was all during the pandemic so I didn't enquire further due to difficulties making appointments etc.

The tape was not itchy ( I was relieved about this) and felt like an added protective layer. I haven't found anything which suggests it can be harmful, so I'd suggest you give it a try and see if you notice a difference. Best of luck with your healing and rehab.
