Appetite

I had a major HA in April had 1 stent fitted. I then had 3 more stents fitted in June. I am now on the following:

Bisoprolol

Ticagralor

Rosuvastatin

Dapaglifozin

Ezetimibe

Ivabradine

Sacaubitrul/Valsartin

I loved my food and cooking. Now I don't fancy anything. My husband is a fab cook. However I am now just indifferent to food and I am struggling with this. Is it normal? I am back at Harefield on Friday so may ask them. However would appreciate answers from you lovely peeps on here. 😊💕

I don’t know, but what I would do is ask your pharmacist (or the pharmacist who works for your doctors practice if there is one) for guidance and, armed with this, talk to your cardio. Pharmacists are more clued up on medication and their side effects and inter reactions than gp’s

I found that my taste was affected post Nstemi and 4x CABG in July . Took a few months to settle down but I still don’t enjoy wine or mist alcoholic drinks. I eat well though, whole foods . I’m on a similar cocktail of meds Bisoprolol, pantaprazole, clopidogrel, artovastatin, aspirin..

How much weight have you lost ?

I have remained fairly stable. As I do eat but just don't think I really fancy a steak, stew, pie, curry etc. 😊

Doesn’t seem to be an issue 👍. I’ve stuck to whole foods , no ultra processed and tinned baked beans/statin spread are about the most processed foods I eat now 🤦🏼🤣. I even bake my own bread , lowering the salt. Condiments I used to use included mustard, ketchup, brown sauce , pickles & chutneys… packed them in. Dint mind lean red meat occasionally, sticking to chicken , turkey , salmon most of the time. I’ve got new pipes , going to do my best to keep them clean 🤣👍

Hi I’m on 4 of the same meds you’re on for heart failure and I lost my tastebuds years ago. I can’t even be bothered to eat sometimes or finish foods, because there is no enjoyment. I get the smell then the tastebuds lets me down

Hi, Goodness you're certainly on a cocktail there. I did take the Dapag but the side effects of Thrush in the mouth meant I had to stop that one, this left me with no taste which has continued to date about a year now. The Bisoprolol i have taken for 18 months which started 1.25 and now up to 10mg. I don't think I have side effects. I do have hallucinations seeing spiders (don't laugh)but I have no idea which medication might be causing this. I had HA August 22 which is when they told me HF. I wish you lots of luck and hope you get settled and get stabilised.
