If it makes you feel any better, I got a call from the cardiologist after having a Holter done due to frequent palpitations and chest pain, he just told me my heart rate was elevated max 125bpm. I got scared when he phoned too. It's probably not that major as it has taken three weeks for them to phone to call you in. Best of luck to you.

in reply to JHutton1994

Thank u :) i think im more scared because they haven't rang or sent a letter they want to see me in person my appointment isn't until next week so its just constant worrying:(

Oh, I know the feeling all too well. As hard as it is to accept, the worrying will not change what they are going to say. If it was something that required urgent treatment they'd have got you a same day appointment. The fact that they are ok to leave it for four weeks is encouraging.

I hope so thank u for replying 🙏😊

Clair I won't tell you not to worry because you will worry but trust me in this, if it was urgent or life threatening then you would not be given the chance to worry but would be in hospital with your feet up, whiling away the time till the next coffee or tea arrived (hospital hint ask for a mug as the cups are far to small) please let us all know how you get on as it's always good to see how others fare.Take care

in reply to Gp0c

Thank u ❤ i just feel so unwell so thinking the worse i know not eating and sleeping isn't helping xx

in reply to

Did you see your GP because of the weight loss? That is a lot to lose if you aren't trying to! At least you will see someone face to face to discuss the issues.

in reply to

I think the anxiety has killed my appetite to be honest im just so worried been like it for a while the gp has tried various antidepressants which i seem to not get on with im taking propanolol which is easing it a bit xx

Hi Clair, I have lost weight myself also due to Anxiety. I was nearly 15st and now iam nearly 11st I have lost that weight in 16weeks, due to worrying and Anxiety, I was also on Propranolol to help with heart palpitations, the medication took my resting HR down to 55bpm and when I tried to sleep my HR went down to 37bpm. Hopefully you will get everything sorted out soon.

Hi all, I’m sorry to hear there’s so much anxiety out there especially as mine has been induced by the blood pressure medication amlodipine. Doctors don’t listen, even when you tell them something is not right and I was kept on the medication for 18 days before they admitted it was the meds. I don’t even have high bp!! It’s a vicious cycle now as I also cannot take anti anxiety meds because of side effects. Has anyone else experienced anxiety after taking meds please, it’s crippling me. I’m shaking from head to foot. Have also lost 2 stone in 3 months and can’t work. Hope all your tests turn out ok, it’s good to share and hopefully you feel better for that. I agree that they’ll call you though if something is seriously wrong. Much love xx

in reply to OllieLollie1

Awww i have been the same i cannot take anti depressants because of bad side effects the worrying has caused me to lose alot of weight too its horrible i know what u r goin through xx

Hi Ollie, you have probably lost weight due to Anxiety and worried about your health that's how I have lost my weight 15 stone down to 11 stone in 16 weeks, my belly was 40inch, now it's 34inch. I don't eat much now so ketones comes into place which burns of body fat, I checked my blood ketones and they where 0.3. no one should have ketones in there body because they are dangerous to have, that's why we should all drink water to get ride of them. I use to take propranolol but I had to stop them due to getting lightheadness most days and feeling Anxious more. I have an Aortic root dilation of 40mm and my ascending Aortic is at 34mm. I need to keep my BP under control but it's hard because I have chronic anxiety disorder and health anxiety, so my BP is always spiking and lasts for around 2 hours, it happens most of days when iam out of the house which is a real bummer. I can't do any DIY around the house anymore, can't lift anything heavy, can't do long car journeys. If you ever need to get anything of your chest, just post on here, everyone is so nice on here, we are one big family. Take care

I agree with you. I was prescribed loads at the outset. Didn't see why I should take Bisoprolol as well as other meds, as I felt the others covered all my symptoms, so dont take them.

I did have a serious heart issue and the consultant rang me at my home the very next day. So I doubt that it is a serious problem. Important to you, yes of course, but not a serious urgent matter.

The waiting is the worst bit of the whole.

Once you get in to hospital then things will calm down a lot.

Hello :-)

I suffer with anxiety and so I know how much this will have frightened you especially as you were struggling before you got this call

It is so easy for us all to say don't worry because chances are you will

But having said that you do not know what they are going to say it could be the simplest of things

They may have also phoned you instead of writing to you because all over or most places over the Country are not getting post regular at the moment due I think to a lack of postmen and I know we have been experiencing this where we are and sometimes we are lucky to be getting post once a week

I also read in the paper people are missing Hospital appointments because the appointments are arriving to late through the post because of what is happening and maybe now this is coming to peoples attention Hospitals where they can could be making phone calls instead so the appointments do not go to waste you just never know if this is one reason they could have phoned instead

I exhaust myself with worry till in the end I have to tell myself whatever they say I cannot change it but I know I am in safe hands if they are needed

Please try and I say try as I know it will be difficult for you to not overthink it to much , distract yourself as much as you can and remember also even if they find nothing wrong that sometimes they want to ask you how you are feeling now and so on because if they are going to discharge you they usually discuss everything with you first

Let us know how you get on :-) x

in reply to BeKind28-

Thank u for such a lovely reply 😊 anxiety has to be 1 of the worse things ever im so sorry u suffer with it too ☹ i think because ive felt so ill last few months im thinking the worse and cant get it off my mind im hoping next week comes quick 🙏

BeKind28- profile image
BeKind28- in reply to

Hello :-)

I have suffered with anxiety from a child and one of those anxieties is health anxiety so now I have got older and things do go wrong I just know how much it is debilitating and you don't know unless you do regretfully suffer with anxiety

The more we worry the more ill we feel and it becomes a vicious circle and then we are convinced as we feel worse there has to be something wrong

But try and take the positives so far that your bloods were fine that is a big positive , xray was fine another positive , ecg fine another positive to and focus on those if you can :-)

It will soon be next week and I hope it comes soon for you to as I know how you are feeling but it will be here before you know it :-)

I hope you have someone you can take with you as I know for me when I am anxious a second pair of ears as I say do come in because anxiety can make us forget or get muddled up and when someone comes with us if we do start questioning things they can help to calm us down and correct us :-)

You can do this and you will be ok no matter what and I look forward to hearing how you get on :-) x

in reply to BeKind28-

Thank u so so much ❤ xx

Dear Clair23,

Being a real scaredy cat I couldn't understand why I was so calm on the ward . The answer of course was I realised that everyone around me was top notch at their jobs. I put my trust in them.

Its the waiting around that is the hard part. I sympathise with you and offer that there are at least a hundred of us on this forum who have you in our thoughts.

Big hug.

Alec.

Oh that's awful sorry you cant take antidepressants does the propanolol help?? Yeah knowing something isn't right makes you feel so much worse. I know I will need surgery eventually and every appointment I go to I get a bit closer to needing it. I will be asking how long do they think it will be until I need AVR x

Hi Clare

Sorry to hear how anxious you are feeling.

No news is good news as they say. Try not to worry until you speak to your GP.

My Consultant said to me 8 months ago "I am trying to save your life". Terrifying, have worried so much since then. Had all the tests etc. He then called me in October to say he has no concerns about my heart. So relieved. I know I have a problem but not as serious as originally thought.

Please let us know how you get on, we are in this together, don't feel alone.

I'm so sorry to hear of your worry. They would definitely have brought you in straight away if it was a serious issue, but I know that's little consolation when you're worried. I know it's easier said than done, but I always try to find a different activity to focus on, whether it's reading, music or playing video games. It doesn't take the worry away but for me at least, it makes the time until the appointment pass quicker. I will say a prayer for you too.

I'm so sorry you're having such a rotten time, both with feeling awful and your anxiety.I don't really think I have much advice to offer, but I do agree that if they have found, or suspected, anything really serious you would have been called in very quickly. As much as I criticise the medical profession as I've had some dreadful experiences, I acknowledge that they don't hang about when it's urgent.

I'll be thinking of you, please let us know what happens.

Hi clair. I’m Sorry you’re feeling really scared at the moment. Try not worry too much, easy said than done I know.? These people don’t mess around with results if there’s something really serious going on. 3weeks is a long time.!! 👍

Morning , I’ve had phone calls next day after an appointment and mine have been followed up with a confirmation letter and email, I think a lot of departments do it this way to make sure we get appointments we can go to

Anxiety is a wonderful thing and try as you might sometimes it’s way beyond our control to ‘ not to worry ‘ as people keep saying, how about a talk with your gp maybe they can help with it while you wait for the cardiologist

There are lots of relaxation and medication videos on utube that might help, other than that I hope everything gets better for you and I’m sure it will get better 👍😊

Hi Clair23 I know its scary, but I would like to reassure you if it was something urgent they would have called you straight away. I had my echocadiogram and the following day they told me to come to the hospital immediately. Try not to worry. I know easier said than done. But worrying will only make your symptoms worse.

Best wishes

Hi Clair, I think there can be few if any of us in this group who haven't had exactly the same fears as you. It's understandable as we've only got one heart each and it's not working properly! The trouble is that fear and worry can become a viscous circle that actually makes things worse, raising the stress levels on our poor hearts. So as others have suggested you need to manage it, put it into perspective and find a way to chill! Whatever the cause for your symptoms stressing about it won't help. The worst part is the waiting, I have been told repeatedly in the whole 3 weeks since my diagnosis. It's horrid, but soon you'll be seen by the experts and things will improve. Big hugs.🤗

He will always want to discuss results . I was worried when I found out I had complete left branch block ( LBBB) but after several months and chest heaviness and fuzzy head I shock myself and decided to live my life . I have a small dose of candestatin to help my heart pump and will see cardio guy every 6 months . I am sometimes really well and sometimes drag myself through things but I won’t give up

Clair try not to worry. I know it’s easier said than done. Hopefully the days will go by quickly and you will soon find out your results. Palpitations are often not dangerous but worry/anxiety makes them worse.

Let us know how you get on. All the best.

good luck and remember if something is wrong it’s better to know and get a diagnosis so you start a proper treatment path - understand the fear factor - try to keep calm and positive - it really helps

in reply to RHFaCOY

I dont know im not seein the cardiologist until next Thursday to disscuss my echocardiogram ☹

What are you going to do whilst waiting to see the doctor? What wonderful things can you do in the next three weeks? Are you going to just worry about what the doctor might or might not say? Alternatively, have you thought about enjoying your life to the full. Do some activities that you enjoy? Appreciate life around you. Create some positive memories. I would like to know what you have done which is positive whilst waiting. Perhaps we can all learn from your resilience.

Hi just updating seen cardiologist today said there slight thickening showed up in the echo scan so reffered me for a ct and mri scan as they are not sure whether it could be heredity or blood pressure advised not to work at present will see me again in 3 months xx
