Palpitation flare ups

Hi folks, I was wondering if anyone else has palpitation flare ups... I have a long history of irregular heart beats, had a cardioversion in 2013 and a cryoablation in 2018. Since the ablation I have been mostly stable apart from about 10 or so thumps a day but about every 3 or 4 months I get a period of about 3 weeks where the palpitations go up to about 300 per day. It's manageable but a right pain in the ****. I don't know what causes them to start or why they stop, this time I've upped my bisoprolol from 5mg to 7.5mg per day which seems to have calmed things down. I'm just wondering if any other poor souls have the same affliction and what they do! Thanks for reading, Dave

The obvious question is to ask if there have been any recent changes in your circumstances?

That could range from your diet changing, putting on weight, having some illness, new cleaning products, new server too close to your bed.

Thanks for the reply, I've never been able to pin down a cause sadly, I don't smoke or drink, I don't use caffeine ect... Try to stay stress free but here we are, life goes on.

yep, sounds very familiar! I have periodic bouts of palps and ectopic beats and it grinds you down. I have tried to work out what causes them, what the triggers might be, but nothing definitive. We all went thru something a couple of years ago, the illness itself or the prevention could be responsible. Its a bit of a coincidence. Anyway, my advice is to try and use my “well it didn’t kill me yesterday, I don’t suppose it will today” mantra and try and get on with your life. I would say call a doctor but I don’t want to appear unhinged!

Yes they are very demoralising, keep your chin up 👍

Yes I get the same.

They’re vile aren’t they :(

I don’t think I have a particular trigger either but I find them worse at night when laying down, the only thing that has been successful in calming them down is getting up and doing 5-10 minutes of exercise. They tend to stop a short while after exertion.

If you haven’t done so already, look up Dr Sanjay Gupta on YouTube. He has lots of helpful videos.

😀

Thanks, I've seen all of Dr Sanjays videos he's a star. Thanks for the tip I'll give it a try and take care of yourself 😉

Hi Dave

I get palpitations from time to time, they are mainly eptopics but can be frustrating. I found when I upped my magnesium (as advised by me EP) that they have been a lot better.

I hope all is well in your world, apart from this :)

Hi Kaz, thanks for the reply 😊, yes everything is going well thanks apart from the usual annoying heart issues. I will try the magnesium, is there any particular type you have found to be best? Hope all's well with you and yours. Dave.
