Evolocumab injection for lower cholesterol
As your LDL level is already in the "optimal" range (below 100 mg/dl) you would not be offered Repatha (evolocumad) injections in the UK under NICE guidance. It would appear that you don't need these injections, but you should discuss it with your doctor.
The units used in the UK to usually measure cholesterol are mmol/L
2.6 mmol/L =100 mg/dL
If you have had a heart attack or stroke then it's suggested that your LDL should be below 1.8mmols/L
Some people with co morbities such as diabetes or high blood pressure are considered to be at higher risk of cardiovascular events and can also be advised to have a lower LDL.
Heart UK has lots of information which you may find helpful
Have you been offered Repatha? It’s only done through hospital lipid clinics not GPs and you have to fit very tight criteria.
