After the insertion of a stent my arm became very red and swollen. Diagnosed as cellulitis. Deep skin infection. Treated with antibiotics and cleared up nicely but they readmitted me and kept me overnight as a precaution. Hope your mum has recovered well .

My mum is 85 and she just come out of hospital with exactly the same!!!

Was quite scary at first. Talk of rings being cut off and sepsis but luckily IV antibiotics worked amazingly well.

No idea how mum got it but she does 'potter' in her garden picking the odd weed so this has been suggested as how she may have picked up an infection. Gardening gloves from now on!!!

Hope your mum is doing well now.

My brother then aged late 80's also had cellulits of the hand and wrist. Was in hospital with it but thankfully recovered only to succumb to the dreaded Covid picked up in hospital after that episode the same year. Quite a blow to us his family.
