I have AF and heart failure and my consultant has increased my dose to 5mg twice daily. I’m taking it after breakfast and after a meal around 7pm.
Does anyone have advice on different ways of using this drug as I’m quite woozy on standing.

I'm not a medic but that sounds like a big dose to me. Did he offer any explanation for the increase?
Hello
That is a big dose I am on 2.5 mg once a day and feel tired and can feel dizzy and you are on so much more
I would talk with your Doctor let them know how this dose is making you feel they may decide to lower it or try you on a different medication but speak with them
Let us know how you get on x
I was on 10mg daily for a few months and once my body got uses to it, the dizziness disappeared, but it came back recently. I'd gotten used to the extreme fatigue too. My HF nurse reluctantly reduced my dose recently as my resting heart rate was dropping to around 47bpm consistently, so am now on 7.5mg, which h is still high, but they are refusing to drop it anymore as they said it is what has helped my heart get to this point and they don't want me regressing.Speak to your HF team/GP about reducing and if they feel this would be feasible for you.
Hi I was told to take mine at night I take 12.5 at about 1030 pm
Blimey , I was zombied on 3.5mg lol, had it reduced to 1.25 but noticed my BP was going up to high normal , now trying 2.5 and it’s back to low normal -normal . Even my consultant said it’s not a nice drug ( I think he’d had CABG too). I’m sure you’ll get it tweaked and be comfortable soon .
Do you have to take it twice a day? I have 10 mg a day but take it at night time - I have candesartan in the morning so don't want to take it all at once. Hopefully you will get used to it and won't feel dizzy all the time. I did. Good luck.
I've got a few cardiac issues which they lump under cardiomyopathy and/or HF. I've had takotsubo cardiomyopathy four times but am stable now. I have to keep on my meds for life. (I'm on spironolactone as well.)
Hi Nanatotwo
I take 10mg each morning before breakfast, at first I got extremely tired by mid afternoon often having to have nap. But now I don’t really have any side effects.I did try taking some in the morning and the rest at night just before bed, but after meetings with cardiologist and heart specialist at hospital it was decided am before breakfast was the best time as they said your heart needs the drug when your awake and active not so much while your asleep. Hope this helps
I was also put on 5mg twice a day (the maximum recommended dose). Have been much better since on this higher amount. Hope you feel better soon.
