I wonder if anyone else has my symptoms, I have been on Bisropidol 5 mg since last December, and I now have swollen ankles, I have put on 8lbs in weight after losing 14lbs, I eat very healthy and I don’t drink, I actually don’t feel myself at all.
Thank you
Jan

I think we may have the answer. Lercanidipine is what is known as a CCI (Calcium Channel Inhibitor). These are notorious for causing oedema. I had it badly with another CCI, Amlodipine, and was prescribed a diuretic. This made life a nightmare as I was commuting at the time on the notorious ThamsUnlinked line! Eventually I gave both up and was put on an ACE Inhibitor which should have been first choice anyway as I am Type I diabetic. ACE Inhibitors help protect the kidneys in all types of diabetes and are usually prescribed unless there is a contra-indication. Feel free to share my post with your GP.
Hi Jan, if you can see my previous comments you will see that I didn’t tolerate Bisoprolol and when I asked for a referral to a cardiologist he took stopped it immediately.
My GP had not listened to my concerns and said he did not understand my request for referral.
altenelol made my leg swell to about treble the size all the way up. Ironically they swapped me to Bisoprolol.
As for weight gain definitely. Before my surgery I was on Bisoprolol and water tablets and didn’t lose weight. Post surgery still not losing. Eat very healthily and do lots of exercise. Definitely some medication cause!
I too put on weight with Bisoprolol and my blood pressure did not go down at all and it seemed to go up ! I also suffered from swollen legs too . 3 months off it my blood pressure is at a good level and I’ve lost weight ! With no change of diet . I am on a diaretic and feel so much better on it . Talk to your Dr or pharmacist not every drug works for everyone
I have just come off Bisropidol 14 months after aortic valve replacement OHS. It was causing me quite a few side affects (dizziness, fainting, nauseous, excessive low heart rate, trouble exercising, possibly weight gain) but not swollen ankles. My GP will test me with ECG and then consultation with cardiologist in November (pre-booked). I have no other meds and my heart rate is regular.
