Hi everyone, I had quadruple bypass on 25th July, home 5 days after, no major issues other than a bit of a stubborn infection in lower chest wound that took 3 lots of antibiotics to clear up and heal. I had my meds tweaked after first consultation back at hospital , bisoprolol was reduced from 3.75mg to 1.25, (I was feeling spaced out and cold ) was told to stop taking amlodipine, I’m on 80mg pantoprazole, an aspirin and 75mg clopidogrel. Then evening 80mg artovastatin.
I’ve noticed my blood pressure has changed from low normal 107/75 to high normal 135/85 then a couple of 141/85 (it does drop back to 124/85).. has anyone else experienced this and got back in touch with their consultants for another change ?
I’m a little concerned that BP has gone to the other end after consistently being low normal.
Grateful for your experiences.

I’ve just had my Furosamide stopped by my GP. My blood pressure is quite volatile at present, the body has to get used to the change of dosage so I’d kind of expected it but it is still unsettling.
Before the change I was getting low normal and normal readings, now I get high normal and normal. I’ve also put on a little weight due to retaining a bit of fluid. That was probably not helped by my getting slightly dehydrated over the weekend.
I didn’t get on with Amlodopine, I’m on Losartan now and that seems to agree with me unlike some other BP medicines.

I had a double cabg in January of this year and my bisoprolol was reduced from 7.5 to 1.25!!! I found I was having a lot of palpatations and so my bisoprolol was increased to 2.5 which my cardiologist said was a more realistic dose. I am still taking my bp medication perindopril and that has been reduced also. my understanding is that my bisoprolol acts act on the bp as well as my bp medication (perindopril) I was advised that i would be kept on both medications for life. Did they say why they have stopped your bp medication (amlodopine)? This may be a reason for your bp being a little higher?? best to ask a professional though. I hope you get some advice and find out what to do for the best. good luck
I'm rather surprised that your main blood pressure medication Amlodipine has been stopped completely. It looks like you are like me and still need a bit of help from blood pressure medication after your bypass. My Losartan was reduced from 100mg to 25mg and my BP now usually sits in the normal range. I would suggest that you contact your cardiologist or whoever is now responsible for looking after you (might be your GP) and tell them what has happened since you stopped the Amlodipine.
By the way, I had similar issues on 3.75mg Bisoprolol... an awful feeling of impending doom. I'm now on 1.25mg with no issues.
Thanks for your replies . I have been in touch with BHF chat nurse too. I’m recording my BP and will let my GP know the readings , they seem to be a bit scattered, 140/80- 107/80.. was 107/70 before changes.
