Hi, I had my CABG confirmed on Weds for the 4th sept, less than 24 hrs later it was cancelled. Impression I got there are LOTS of others canceled not just me. Anyone here in the same boat for next week?

Any idea whats the reason?

Hello :-)

I am sorry your op got cancelled I was lucky 2 years ago as the unmentionable was rife yet I got mine on time if they had cancelled I am not sure how I would have coped

But we all know that the NHS are over run in some areas

This does happen quite often and I am sure others will come along and share it happened to them to in fact I have read people been cancelled on here 3 times or more

I hope you get a new date really soon if you want to know why you have been cancelled and if they have any idea when they will be doing the op then give them a call and see if you can find anything out

Let us know how you get on :-) x

Hi, yes I did ask, but they were very vague, I am suspecting the upcoming strike on the 19th and maybe getting their house in order. TBH I was expecting something, my brother was rescheduled 4 x times.

Hello :-)

I think you have worked out the reason by the sounds of what you have said

Goodness your Brother got cancelled 4 times that is not good at all but I presume he has had it done now and hopefully made a good recovery

In a way I suppose your Brother going through this will be a great support to you :-)

Fingers crossed you only get cancelled this once :-) x

Good Morning.....sorry to hear about your cancellation. I had my valve ops cancelled twice....once the night before the op and then cancelled again after I was gowned and waiting for theatre. Reasons were no ICU beds on either occasion. When I actually had my op and was in ICU I understood. Although there are other things going on with the NHS at the mo along with strike action that is all very frustrating for people on waitlists, ICU is the critical care bit just after any open heart surgery. There are not a huge amount of beds available in that area so if anyone's health deteriorates or they need to be kept in ICU for an extended period, it means that beds for planned operations become unavailable. Also emergencies need beds immediately which again can take up the place of people on waitlists and my cancellations were also during 'that virus' which caused shocking delays for people but ICU beds was the reason given to me for my delayed op. It's so upsetting being cancelled as you gear yourself up and so do the people close to you so I hope you get sorted soon. All the best x

HI, Yea it's pretty common, my single bypass operation was cancelled twice ....nurse said emergency come first which I suppose is understable ...general rule of thumb is within 2 cancellation then you definitely go in.

Hi, yes I think it is a contingency which they are setting up considering the upcoming strike.

Hopefully I dont become one of those emergencies, the ol ticker starting to up the rate of gip.
