Wow that is high risk but that's so amazing that they are allowing a whole day to do the surgery and obviously recovery in ICU sounds like they definitely have a plan hope your able to have your surgery soon! ❤️

I think they were waiting on result fromWembley.

My op went well but it took best part of the day in theatre. Then there has to be icu available and then HDU. . But you won’t know much about it. I walked in to theatre then I was out for two days. I was still in icu when I vaguely woke up.

The medics said that there is a 99%+ success rate.

Do remember that this waiting is by far the worst bit. It’s all good once you get the op.

Good luck Ted.

It's good that they are being so careful about your case, although the delays must be hard for you. I hope you get seen to soon! 👍

hi. I went into surgery at 9am and came out at 4pm so I don’t think it’s unusual. I was in itu for 2 days after and completely out of it on painkillers. I saw and heard some very curious things in itu but still do t know how much of it was real 😂

Thanks for that

What worries me here is they r unbelievably short staffed and I saw my surgeon the other day and he looked absolutely crackered.

Last night, my blood pressure, sats and even the daily stomach injection was given to me at, wait for it - 12.35am !!!! Normally 4pm consequently I got no sleep at all. What I am seeing is worrying me and I have enough worry with a high risk operation anyway.

I’m afraid that I had the same experience when I was hospital, both before and after my surgeries. The hospitals were chronically short of staff and everything was a bit chaotic. That said, the actual surgery part and itu care was amazing and I couldn’t have asked for better. The surgeons and the itu staff were incredible and looked after me very well. I’m sure that it will be the same for you.

Sounds like Five Star service to me , and another reason to feel reassurance at how well they are planning and conducting your surgery. There may be risks but it sounds like they are ready for them, good luck , Bee

They are just planning to take care of you really well. I found the care & attention post op was absolutely amazing, second to none.

Hello, try not to worry, easier said than done. As someone else said, that's not unusal. You need this procedure done and they're ensuring you receive the right care and attention. Hope it's soon.

My operation was the only one scheduled for my surgeon that day. I was reassured by that, as I felt it took possible pressure off him. Wishing you all the best when you do get you op.

I was scheduled for an afternoon op originally but surgeon switched me to am. I was back in Critical Care by the afternoon, don't remember much about that day, I spent an extra day there because I had AF (atrial fibrillation). Copy of notes to GP show I was a priority admission.

Don't get yourself stressed about the operation, these days it is routine. Both my parents went through it, dad 40+ years ago and mum about 25 years ago. She lived to just a couple of months short of 100.

You'll have doubts but there is really no option, go through with the op and feel brilliant afterwards (I do) or hold back and condemn yourself to a shorter life full of worry. And, yes, I had that choice myself.

As for timing of drugs and obs I was having my BP and Sats taken every 4 hours (02:00, 06:00, 10:00 etc) so sleep was disturbed for the 5 weeks I was in hospital. Drugs were around 08:00, 14:00 and 20:00.

The staff in both of the hospitals I was in were brilliant, couldn't have been more attentive when I needed them.

I think the surgeon has recognized that you do come with a few risks..and he is not going to compromise your surgery by having other appts on the same day..so he is relaxed in the knowledge that he can give you whatever time is necessary..so this should give you confidence that the whole surgical team is with you on that day..looks like a good decision and you can now relax as well knowing you will have the best care
