hello all

Day 23, waiting for the decision from the drs who r all sitting round the table. Unfortunately this has not taken place yet because of the emergences they are having to do.

but believe it or not, my surgeon Dr Singh, who is mega high up and does not normally come on the ward, came to see me. He said he had come because he did not want me to think that he had forgotten me.

He said, yes, when he first saw me he still wanted to operate but it was his team that stopped him.

today he can see all the improvements I’m making and even his anethestist has said I am better.

So he thinks he will now have the meeting on Friday. I hope they do because timewise I’m def becoming stir crazy, but I do know and some staff here have no agreed, there is no care outside anymore so I will continue to deal with it

Thanks for updating us. So sorry you been in there 23 days! Hopefully after the meeting they have on Friday they should have a descion for you what day and what procedure there gona do. Your so lucky to see your cardiologist in person I haven't seen mine face to face in about 5 or 6 years it's always a member of his team! Hope your family are keeping you company and your able to occupy your self by reading or doing a puzzle or something x

Another day but another step forward having seen your surgeon. It sounds positive too, so action stations hopefully on Friday now for a plan & time schedule. Hope the time doesn't drag too much - are you allowed out of your room yet to go for little walks?

Only up and down the corridor, one entry to Hosp my distance was 5ft, now I am walking non stop to the end of the ward, approx 150yds one way, come back, 25 breath brake, then I’m off the other way, around the same distance. They don’t let heart patients off the ward, although after 23 days I have thought about jumping in the cleaner’s trolley!!

Hi there - I was in hospital for 3 weeks in Spain recently and was positively aching to get outside during my recovery, but they too insisted we weren't allowed out of the ward - my doctor explained it was because of the risk of picking up an infection, which made perfect sense, but it didn't stop the itching to feel the sun on my face and breathe in some fresh air.I hope you don't have to wait too much longer for a decision.

Keep your chin up, I had to wait 23 days for my op.due to other emergencies. I feel you pain and remember how stir crazy I felt BUT it will all soon be a distant memory 😁

stir crazy today

Hi I’m afraid after another poor nights sleep not least helped by the unbelievable noise the night staff made, ( I can shut their metal bin and not make a sound, it seems they r taking a flying leap and slamming them- all night) so I’ve become very very stir crazy already and not talking to people today. Nothing I can do about it but on the drs rd where nothing new was said I did finish by say look if u can’t fix it just get it over and done with - sorry

I sympathise with you ! MDT meetings are difficult to arrange but hopefully your team will meet up tomorrow - my husband went in as an emergency for aortic & mitral value replacement but he caught Covid in hospital and had almost 5 weeks to wait for surgery- thankfully he survived both - good luck

Hi I feel your pain being stuck in hospital for ages. are you in your own room? I was in for 7 weeks during lockdown no visitors and not allowed out, I had to wave to my 91yr mum through the window. Two weeks of the time were recovering after the op, they went quite quickly. I used to just talk to anyone that came in from the surgeon to the cleaner they were all lovely and understood the cabin fever we were suffering from, I had my kindle, phone and laptop which passed some time, even taking a shower took about an hour to get drip covered up and it being so awkward being attached to it. I usually kept my room door closed day and night as it was noisy with other patients TV's up loud, I was sure the guy in the room across was deaf 😂he listened to Dr who all day at full volume and played computer games at the same time. I really missed company but when I got home I just wanted peace and quiet 🙄. I hope you get your op really soon and recover quickly. Char

Well, to me, it sounds like a big positive that your doctor came personally to the ward to speak with you. That’s wonderful! It sounds like he has an emotional and professional investment in your health outcome.

Also, it is great that he can see/document the improvements that you can see and feel for yourself. It sounds like he is prepared and eager to get on with things.

I know that you are worn out with waiting, but it sounds like the extra time gave you longer to make some improvements prior to surgery. All of that has to be a win!

I agree with Smitty,, your surgeon actually visited you?! Woohoo! It does show he's on your case. It's awful being cooped up but it will be in the past. You're doing great Ted!
