what about my mental health? I had a mitral valve repair and bypass 12 yrs ago then had echos every year Last November was found to be leaking again. After lots of test and seeing 2 surgeons I’ve been told I am suitable for key hole surgery Yippee. But because I haven’t got symptoms it’s the watch and wait scenario with echos now every 6 months. I feel like I have been on a roller coaster the past few months and just want it sorted. The surgeon said the risks are higher 2nd time around and because I want a tissue valve waiting is the best option at this point in time. My bnp is 800 is that high I don’t know. I feel like I am just waiting for the 6 months to come around. Not good. I know.

I can empathise with your situation when it comes to waiting for your appointment/tests and the anxiety or worry you may feel in the lead up to it. BNP varies depending on age and a few other factors. I don’t have a lot of knowledge on what would be considered the ideal range.

In terms of your mental health, would it be worth seeking out therapy or counselling using the NHS Talking Therapies service? You can ask your GP to refer you or you can self-refer. They also have a programme for people with long-term chronic health conditions. I hope you have friends and family available for support as well, and of course, you can always post on here.

I hope others can help with the BNP query.

That's great that you can have the key hole surgery did they give you a time frame for how long you would be waiting?? That's good that you don't have symptoms yet aswell that's something atleast! Sounds like there gona be keeping a close eye on you which is good x
