Waiting for followup

So I had a 24hr holter monitor due to palpitations then an echo cardiogram. The scan I think was due to having a murmur so think they were checking nothing had changed with that. I was told it looked the same as previously 5 or so years ago. The results would go to a cardiologist and I would hear back.

I don't expect it to be any time soon. My scan was around 3 weeks ago.

The last few nights I've noticed my throat feeling odd and like I need to cough and when I check my heart rate its sitting around 50bpm, sometime briefly dropping lower. Tonight I felt a bit tingly with it but very aware it could be that I'm too focused on it so unintentionally changing my breathing maybe. I think all it fine generally. Each time this is during the evening when I'm relaxing watching TV. It just seems a bit low for me.

I'm in my 30s, okay walking around but not overly fit due to other issues. Can get breathless just talking at times so certainly wouldn't come under the fit people having lower bpm.

In my shoes, would you wait it out until you hear from cardiologist? Or contact GP or cardiology to mention the change?

Unsure what to do. Leaning more towards keeping an eye and waiting it out.

Thanks

Do you already have an appointment with your cardiologist? If not, any new symptoms should be reported to your GP or to 111 to be on the safe side.

I hope others can offer some advice.

All the best.

No appointment yet. Its settled now after a few nights but I think I will call to enquire. I imagine stress was the cause but still completely unlike me to have such low heart rate.

Thank you for your reply

I would be inclined to contact the hospital and find out when your appointment is likely to be. Symptoms such as breathlessness when talking and strange feelings in your throat are symptoms I had due to my pacemaker causing my heart to beat out of synch. Whilst that is obviously not the case with you as I don’t think you have a device, I would find those symptoms worrying and if you have to wait a while to see a cardiologist, you should probably make contact with your GP or 111 as Tos suggested. Hope you get some answers soon.

That's interesting. It seems to have settled a bit now thankfully and I suspect stress played a part in my symptoms as having a rough time lately. I don't know whether to just put it down to stress causing it or if I should be thinking stress has highlighted an issue perhaps.

I think I will call to see when I'm likely to be seen. I hate to make a fuss. Haven't been able to even think about if during the daytime this week as so much going on appointment wise for family so my own stuff is being pushed aside a bit.

Thank you for your reply

Hi I had recent similar symptoms which got bad at night rang 111 ambulance to hospital ended up diagnosed with severe stenosis, seeing cardiologist next Monday

I'm twice yr age you'll likely be fine and previous ecgs incl a 5 day test had never shown this up

So I'd say best to get checked I got told off for not calling In ssooner

I'd been mistaking some of my symptoms for low blood sugar diabetic type 2

Good luck let us know how you are

Thank you for your reply, really appreciate. Sorry for my late response.

I will try to find out what sort of wait I should expect for the cardiologist and if its a while then I can go to GP. Maybe even find out which cardiologist it is and contact the secretary to let them know of the change and they can decide if they need to hurry it along a bit or not.

Always feel like I'm being a nuisance though.

Hiya,

There's no harm in calling the GP in the morning to see if you can get either a face to face or a telephone appointment to talk it through.

I've learned this past few months that when something doesn't feel right, & you have the thought that you want to talk to someone about it, not to worry about contacting your GP. They're there for you for exactly these moments.

All the best with it

Thanks. It has settled the last night or so so I haven't done anything quite yet but still feel a bit uneasy about it.I always do what I can to avoid contacting my GP because they are me feel stupid. I have various health issues, a lot kind of left with no explanation. So I hate going because they make me feel like it's all in my head or its all just my anxiety.

I will contact someone though, I just haven't been able to this week has its been horrible hectic and stressful as it is, I've not been able to think about it. Hence my very slow response. I feel so rude for taking so long to reply to you all.

I appreciate all the replies so thanks again😊
